Could Terminator 5 be set in London?

Posted by LiveFor on June 6, 2009

The usually very reliable Rich Johnston over at Bleeding Cool had this little nugget of information.

I hear from industry sources that yet-to-be-named Terminator 5, the sequel to Terminator: Salvation, will be set in London in the year 2011, with a time-travelling John Connor (Christian Bale).

Not sure if this could be true or not. Very early days although back in April, Film Journal ran an interview with McG on his plans for a follow up to Terminator Salvation:

I strongly suspect the next movie is going to take place in a 2011. John Connor is going to travel back in time and he’s going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They’ve figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you’re going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be fucking awesome.

I think setting it in the UK will mix up the franchise a bit in a good way, and I wonder if it is anything to do with Bale wanting to shoot it back in his home country. Still as I’ve said this is very much a rumour, but it could lead to some pretty cool visuals. Now what would Skynet want with London?

I have yet to see Terminator 4, so don't know if a T5 in London would be a good or bad thing.

What I do know is that McG is a fraction of the film-maker James Cameron is.

However, London does seem to be relatively underused as a film location, so at least they won't have too much competition.

This sounds weird. Just a nitpick though, Christian Bale is Welsh, not English.
