Warner Bros. has set July 20, 2012, as the release date for the third Christopher Nolan-directed Batman movie. Still no title, start date or story though.
The studio has barely begun the process of developing the movie according to Heat Vision; Nolan is in postproduction on “Inception,” but is hammering out a story with David Goyer.
There is no title as this point and no start date.
After he helps her restart her stalled car, Kate (Jane Birkin) invites Italian traveler Vittorio (Sergio Castellitto) to come see her family’s traveling circus. Already smitten with Kate, he soon falls under the threadbare big top’s spell as well, postponing his trip to Barcelona to hang out with the clowns and acrobats. When he discovers that Kate—who has just rejoined the troupe after a long absence—used to walk the high wire but now fears even entering the ring, he determines to uncover the reason for her stage fright and see her perform again. Jacques Rivette’s latest, a compact and engrossingly enigmatic tale, makes the most of the master filmmaker’s love of improvisation and the theater—the latter here transformed into the rickety, barely surviving circus, where the narrative occasionally pauses to let the camera take in the acts of various performers. In contrast to the exuberance of such displays, the film also nurses a strain of melancholy, as the grief and guilt Kate has been carrying with her for so long casts a spell over the story. Rivette regular Birkin mesmerizes in the role of a woman who has closed herself off but who now awakens slowly to life’s possibilities. Full of humor, mystery, subtle romance and an unmistakable valedictory tone, this playful and loving ode by the 82-year-old director reveals him very much at the top of his game
The main parts have been cast, although still not sure if Hugo Weaving has definitely signed up as the Red Skull. Now UGO have a rumour from a reliable source that Tommy Lee Jones may also be starring in the film.
No word on who he will be playing if he does get involved, but as shooting begins at the end of June and Men in Black 3 is also due to start filming this summer Mr Jones may either be very busy or won’t be in Captain America.
Joe Dante…let’s see what films he has done Piranha, The Howling , Segment 3 of Twilight Zone: The Movie; Gremlins, Gremlins 2: The New Batch; Explorers, Innerspace, Amazon Women on the Moon, The ‘Burbs, Matinee, Small Soldiers. Quite a few good ones and some okay ones. This one looks like a good one.
Life couldnt possibly get worse, or so thought 17 year old Dane and his 10 year old brother Lucas, when their single mother Susan uproots them from New York City to the sleepy little town of Bensonville. For Dane the only exciting thing about their new town is the beautiful girl next door, Julie. With Susan spending more and more time at work, Dane and Lucas are left unattended to explore the depths of their eerie new residence.
With Dane paying more attention to Julie, he has far less time and patience for his little brother. But then everything changes when they find a sinister bottomless hole under a locked trap door in the basement. As the brothers experiment with the hole they realize that the cold pit goes on forever. They drop a nail and never hear it hit bottom. They lower a flashlight and a video camera and they get consumed by the darkness. Hoping for some answers about the houses past, Dane and Lucas bring Julie in on their new discovery. When the hole is exposed, evil is unleashed. With strange shadows lurking around every corner and past nightmares coming to life, the trio will have to come face to face their darkest fears to put an end to THE HOLE.
Finally our first look at Thor. Yep, that is a photo of Chris Hemsworth in costume as the titular Norse God and how cool is that. I just can’t get over how faithful to the recent comic book version the costume is. Marvel Studios are really sticking close to the original character designs in all of their films.
I do like the whole look of the costume from the chest plates to the almost futuristic chainmail on the arm. All goes along with the God like technology and brings to mind Arthur C Clarke’s quote, “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Plus there is a definite hint of Jack Kirby to it.
Looks like Marvel officially released the first look at Thor after a photo of The Destroyer slipped out.
With Kenneth Branagh directing there is a very Shakespearean kind of vibe from all of this and I for one cannot wait for Marvel Studios next film after Iron Man 2.
What do you think of our first glimpse of Thor?

20th Century Fox have got the rights to Incognito – Marvels 2009 comic series by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. It is a very cool series with a great concept (kind of like Wanted in reverse) and I do love the main characters name, Zack Overkill. Here is the synopsis from Wiki.
The comic is set in a world in which larger-than-life pulp heroes and villains have existed since the early 1800s. The original super was an escaped convict named Kenneth Lee who went by the name the Black Death. His powers came from a radioactive object which landed in New England over 200 years ago. Other notable supers include the descendants of the soldiers who were chasing him including the Doc Savage-esque “Professor Zeppelin,” the Shadow-esque “Lazarus”. After WWII, the SOS agency created by Zeppelin has kept most stories about the supers out of the news.
The comic deals with former science villain Zack Overkill, who is in the Witness Protection Program after giving testimony against The Black Death. Zack is required to take a drug that eliminates his super abilities and given a job delivering mail in an office.
Trying to escape the boredom of a normal life, Zack experiments with illegal drugs. It quickly becomes obvious they interfere with the power-blocking drug and he once again has his super strength. He begins wearing a mask again and searches for action in the streets and back alleys acting as a vigilante rather than a supervillain to avoid being arrested for violating his parole agreement. His actions reveal to Black Death that he is alive. Several of Black Death’s soldiers attempt to kill Zack for his testimony
Should make for a great film. Who could they get to play Zack?
