Awaydays is based on the bestselling novel by Kevin Sampson. Set in the post-punk era in the North West of England. Paul Carty (Nicky Bell) is 19, good-looking, funny, clever – and bored out of his mind. His mother died a year ago. He lives in middle class suburbia with his silently grieving father and feisty young sister, Molly. Carty works as a junior civil servant and spends all his wages on gigs, clubs, records and football. It’s at a match that he meets Elvis (Liam Boyle). Elvis changes everything. He’s part of a gang called The Pack. The Pack is legendary; they dress in a cultish, almost effeminate style that’s at odds with the Boneheads and Bootboys they fight against. They have androgynous wedge haircuts worn with Lacoste tennis shirts, Lois jeans and Adidas Forest Hills training shoes. For as long as he has been going to football, Carty has been fascinated by The Pack. Now Elvis is offering him a way in…
Collider chatted to Keifer Sutherland about various things. They asked whether he would make a 24 film or animated series. Here is what he said:
I’ve never thought about an animated series. We thought that it would always be cruel and unusual punishment to ask the writers to write, in the course of ten months, the equivalent of twelve films and in their off time if you’ve got a great idea for a feature film that’s so special write that as well. So we’ve kind of collectively agreed that we would entertain the idea of a film when the series was finished. And if people still wanted to see something like that we would be really excited to do it because the format we would make the movie in – cause we have discussed it – would be a two hour representation of a twenty-four hour day. So we would lose the real time aspect which would be a huge freedom for the writers. But it’s something we would not even start to do until the series was finished.
THE ROAD TO NOD is a narcotic and brooding tale of wrong decisions and their inevitable and desultory consequences. The film is at its roots an old testament tragedy. Shot in stark high contrast black and white the film bears resemblance to classic film noirs and the genre of the Road Movie. The otherworldy Irish landscape, long tracking shots and the hallucinogenic blues soundtrack lend the film a peculiar rhythm and atmosphere.
Synopsis: After serving a nine year prison sentence, PARRISH, a Skid Row criminal, attempts to rekindle ties with his old partners. Upon his return he’s immediately faced with a harsh new reality: The power on the Skids has shifted and Parrish finds himself on the run and embarks on a trans-European escape from his pursuers. The film blends the archetypes of traditional film noir and the road movie with elements of “Kammerspiel” theatre…with a raw and hallucinogenic delta blues soundtrack. The film features Delaney Davidson, Chris Hughes, Rev. Beat-Man, Franz Dobler, Jeroen Visser, Alain Croubalian, Mischa De Haring, Manfred Peckl, Miron Zownir and Dominique Noiret.

Maurice LaMarche is the voice of the Brain from Pinky & the Brain. He has some news for us:
In honor of William Shatner’s 78th birthday tomorrow, 3/22/09, I am declaring March 22nd to be “International Talk Like William Shatner Day!” Hey, we have “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”, and Shatner inspired a helluva lot more kids to be like Captain James T. Kirk than any who wanted to be some smelly, toothless, “arrr”-spouting frickin’ pirate.
Now, since talking like our hero is a bit more challenging than walking around going, “Arrr”, I’ve included the following video tutorial for your edification, filmed by producer Bill Biggar, on a loooong drive to the airport on L.A.’s fabulous 405 freeway. Enjoy, and remember, it’s pronounced “sabotaaj”, not, “sabotahj”.

Set in New York City, Nursery University is a feature documentary that reveals the oddly competitive, yet often humorous, world of nursery school admissions. The film tells the story of five families – each with different backgrounds and economic circumstances – attempting to place their toddlers in prestigious Manhattan preschools that have limited spaces and high price tags. Nursery University follows the families’ journeys while also going behind the scenes with the experts that advise them and the school directors who must determine which “applicants” to allow through their doors. Enjoy the insanity in this sweeter look at the social issues, and the little darlings at the center of all the fus
