The Random – Laverne & Shirley, Bubo in Clash of the Titans, Salvation Boulevard, Vacation, Unknown White Male, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Earthbound, Vamps, Transformers 3

Posted by LiveFor on February 11, 2010

Valentine’s Day director Garry Marshall created the classic Happy Days spin off sitcom Laverne & Shirley, which starred Cindy Williams and Garry’s sister Penny Marshall as Milwaukee brewery workers.  Extra talked to Marshall who claimed that a film adaptation may be in the works with Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner as the duo.

Variety are saying that Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris, and Jim Gaffigan will star in indie feature Salvation Boulevard. The comedic thriller is set in the world of mega-churches in which a former Deadhead-turned-born again-Christian finds himself on the run from fundamentalist members of his mega-church who will do anything to protect their larger-than-life pastor.

New Line has hired screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Sam Weir from Freaks and Geeks!) to write the new Vacation film according to Variety.  The story will focus on Rusty Griswold, now a grown man, who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather. It will be closer in tone to Planes, Trains and Automobiles than the previous chapters.

Filming has begun on Jaume Collet-Serra’s (Orphan) next project Unknown White Male in Germany.  The film stars Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List, Clash of the Titans), Diane Kruger (Inglorious Basterds), January Jones (Mad Men), Aidan Quinn (The Book of Daniel), Bruno Ganz (The Reader, Downfall) and Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon) -  Liam Neeson stars as Dr. Martin Harris, who awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn’t recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run. Aided by an unlikely ally (Diane Kruger), Martin plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he’s willing to go to uncover the truth.

According to Variety screenwriters Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith are to write a remake of the 1982 musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.  The 1982 version (based off the 1978 Broadway play of the same name) starred Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton as a town sheriff and madame who team up to stop a crusading TV personality from shutting down the local whorehouse.

THR is reporting that Richard Matheson’s 1982 novel Earthbound is heading to movieland. This will join adaptions of his other books I Am Legend, The Shrinking Man and What Dreams May Come. Earthbound is described as an “erotic ghost story” about a married man who starts an affair with a young stranger, only to realize that she may actually be the ghost of a long-dead woman driven by something more than earthly passion.

Screen Daily have the news that Alicia Silverstone will reunite with Clueless director Amy Heckerling in a film called Vamps“ a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality.” Krysten Ritter (Confessions of a Shopaholic, Veronica Mars, Breaking Bad) will be the other Vamp alongside Silverstone.

Tyrese Gibson has confirmed that he will be back as Sgt. Epps in Michael Bays Transformers 3. In a post on Twitter, he confirmed by saying that “Yes I will for sure be in Transformers 3.. Get Ready!! Epps is here to STAY!!”.

Bubo the mechanical Owl has a cameo in Louis Leterrier’s remake of Clash of the Titans. Film School Rejects had the news, but it is not clear whether his scenes will make it into the final cut.

Inglourious Basterds – 3 new clips from Tarantino’s war film

Posted by LiveFor on May 20, 2009

The full 2 hours and 40 minutes of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds is premiering at Cannes . I don’t have that, but Collider did have these three clips from the film.

The clips show Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) informing Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) of two recent developments in the operation.

Lt. Aldo Raine (Pitt) interrogating a German soldier about the locations of their camps and the artillery they have. He respectively declines the offer and decides to die for his country.

Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) telling Frederick Zoller (Daniel Brühl) how Jews are like rats.

Diane Kruger is a Basterd

Posted by LiveFor on May 7, 2009

Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own…

Inglourious Basterds Photos

Posted by LiveFor on April 2, 2009

Vanity Fair have some excellent photos for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The photo above has, from the left Mélanie Laurent as Shosanna Dreyfus, Christopher Waltz as Colonel Hans Landa, Omar Doom as P.F.C. Omar Ulmer, Daniel Brühl as Frederick Zoller, Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth as Sergeant Donny Donowitz, Diane Kruger Bridget von Hammersmark, and Brad Pitt as the Nazi-hunting Lieutenant Aldo Raine.

Is it just me or does Taratino look like his character in From Dusk Til Dawn when he has vamped out?

Be sure to check out the rest of the photos over on Vanity Fair.

Inglourious Basterds – Photos of Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger

Posted by LiveFor on December 12, 2008

Here are a couple of photos from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The top one shows Brad Pitt as Lt Aldo Raine and the one below has Diane Kruger as Bridget von Hammersmark. They are not really action packed and Pitt looks a little goofy, but still news is news.

During World War II a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as “the Basterds” are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers.

Inglourious Basterds (Yes Bastards is apparantly meant to spelt that way)

Posted by LiveFor on October 15, 2008

The poster could well be a fake since Tarantino spells it Inglourious Basterds but it looks good. Below is a press release for the movie. I’m really looking forward to his movie.

The ensemble cast of Inglourious Basterds includes Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Brühl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Inglourious Basterds reunites Tarantino with Academy Award-nominated editor Sally Menke, Academy Award-winning director of photography Bob Richardson, and production designer David Wasco. Joining Tarantino for the first time is Academy Award-nominated costume designer Anna Sheppard.

Academy Award-nominee Lawrence Bender is producing Inglourious Basterds. Erica Steinberg and Lloyd Phillips, and Bob and Harvey Weinstein are the film’s executive producers. The co-producers are Charlie Woebcken, Christoph Fisser and Henning Molfenter. Pilar Savone is the associate producer.

The Weinstein Company and Universal Pictures, through its newly formed International Studio, are co-financing and co-presenting the film with TWC handling domestic distribution and Universal handling international distribution. The two companies are partners on the project.

Zehnte Babelsberg Film, a subsidiary of Studio Babelsberg AG, is producing Inglourious Basterds. The film will shoot at Studio Babelsberg as well as in Berlin, Saxony and Paris.

Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Inglourious Basterds will be released worldwide in 2009.
