Warwick Davis will soon be starring in Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant’s new sitcom, Life’s Too Short. We know him as Wicket the Ewok, Willow, the Leprechaun and Marvin the Paranoid Android.
He always comes across as a top bloke and he has a book out called Size Matters Not, which is just the best title ever.
In the book he also recounts learning the etiquette of false beard cleaning from Michael Gambon while filming Harry Potter (check that out below); smoking a bong taller than him for comedy slasher Leprechaun; and what it was like to work with George Lucas while playing the part of Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi – upon their first meeting on set, twelve year-old Warwick had no idea who the luminary director was, and passed him off as “a man with big hair, glasses and a beard” (they get on much better now, and Lucas wrote the foreword to his book).
I can see Lion-O’s sword,Mjoilnor (sp?), sonic screwdriver, Star Trek OS phaser, lightsaber, Blade Runner gun, Noisy Cricket, Harry Potter’s wand and I’m not too sure on the grapple gun and swords – Conan’s and Aragorn’s maybe?
Call me Ish and hopefully Fearless Leader Phil will be back on the posting game tomorrow as I’m burning out after just a few days.
Here we go then. The build up to the final tale of Harry Potter Part 1 (the final book has been split into two parts for the films).
Unusually for a teaser trailer there is a bit of behind the scenes stuff and the director David Heyman talking about the film. Then there is quite a bit of footage in this one starting round about the 50 seconds mark.
Parts I is out on 19 November 2010 and Part II is 15 July 2011.
As many of you know I live in the wonderful city of Liverpool (Beatles Rock Band out tomorrow). However, I originated from the Wirral which is separated from Liverpool by the River Mersey. Connecting them are a bridge and two tunnels called the Queensway and the Kingsway.
What does this local geography lesson have to do with Live for Films and Harry Potter I hear you ask?
I am glad you did ask otherwise this post would have come to a swift end.
It turns out that there is some second unit filming going on for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It is taking place at the Liverpool side of the Queensway Tunnel. I had a top secret source tell another source…well it was a friend of my Mum telling her and my Mum telling me…that filming was taking place last night, tonight and tomorrow night. The plan was for me to nip down for some snapping of photographs but I was unable to do so.
The photo below is from July when they did some filming at the Dartford Tunnel with stunt doubles. It looks as if all of this will tie into the one scene.
The scene is thought to involve Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane), racing through the tunnel on Sirius Black’s motorbike with Harry Potter in a sidecar fighting off enemies with his wand. This is the bit from the book where there are seven Harry’s to confuse the Death Eaters.
A publicist for the film said: “We have got a unit shooting for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows “There are no principal cast members there. “It is all going very well and everybody has been very accommodating locally.”
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had an estimated take of $16 million from a 3,000 screen midnight run last night reports Variety.
That number is second only to The Dark Knight last Summer which took in $18.5 million from Thursday midnight runs last July. “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” previously held the record for a Tuesday midnight run opening with $12 million in 2007.
By this Sunday, ‘Fallen’ is expected to have a first five-day haul not far off from the $203 million take that ‘Knight’ scored last Summer.
Reviews have been pretty bad all over
Rotten Tomatoes : The first film had a 57% approval rating and 5.8/10 average score. ‘Fallen’ however sits at 20% and 3.9/10.
Metacritic: The original scored 61/100, whereas ‘Fallen’ sits at 40/100.
