That’s a hell of a cast and the film will premiere at the 2010 SXSW Festival. Written & directed by Chris D’Arienzo and based on the book “Life is a Strange Place” by Frank Turner Hollon.
Barry Munday (Patrick Wilson – Watchmen), a suburban wanna-be ladies man, wakes up in the hospital after being attacked in a movie theater, only to realize that he is missing one of his most prized possessions… his testicles. To make matters worse, Barry learns he’s facing a paternity lawsuit filed by a woman he can’t remember having sex with.
With this being Barry last chance to ever be a father, Barry reaches out and embraces the journey of parenthood and the onslaught of bumps that face him along the way.
Filled with an ensemble of unusual characters, “Barry Munday” is the surprisingly heart-warming tale of a guy who finds it took losing his manhood to be a better man.

Michael Cera seems to enjoy doing these staged interviews and set ups (another example below) and the documentary, Paper Heart, he starred in was pretty much one great big staged piece. Still Youth in Revolt looks like it could be good and actually shows a different side to Cera’s acting ability with his characters alter ego, Francois Dillinger.
YOUTH IN REVOLT is an outrageous and heartwarming tale of Nick Twisp (Michael Cera) and his quest to win the heart of Sheeni (newcomer Portia Doubleday) and hopefully lose his virginity along the way. Based on C.D. Payne’s cult-hit novel of the same name, YOUTH IN REVOLT is directed by Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl”) and features an all-star ensemble cast including: Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Justin Long, Jean Smart, Ari Graynor, Fred Willard, Zach Galifianakis, Mary Kay Place and more.

At last Michael Cera shows he can act differently in his new film, Youth in Revolt. I do like Cera but was getting a bit fed up with his seemingly similar style in each film. Now this one shows quite a different style (watch the trailer and you’ll get the Durden reference).
Directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl), Cera plays Nick Twisp a 16-year-old who desperately wants his “dream girl,” Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday), to notice him.
The film is based on the book “Youth in Revolt: The Journals of Nick Twisp,” which contains the first three parts of a six-part saga. The film co-stars Zach Galifianakis, Justin Long, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Fred Ward, Ari Graynor, and Jean Smart. It is due out on 30th October.
