Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade, is a comedy about five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph) and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesnt mean growing up.
This sounds like a comedy version of The Big Chill, but with no Kevin Costner as the corpse and no Jeff Goldblum.

If you like Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Kevin James and Rob Schneider then you’ll probably enjoy it. I don’t mind a bit of the Sandler so I’ll watch it, but I’m not expecting greatness. Plus we all know Kevin James is filling in the fat man in a small coat gap left by Chris Farley.
Directed by Dennis Dugan (You Don’t Mess with the Zohan)
Is it going to be comedy gold or a big fat nothing?
Dimension Films has signed Steve Carr to direct Short Circuit, the remake of the 1986 sci-fi pic according to Variety.
Carr is coming off the Kevin James hit “Paul Blart: Mall Cop.”
Scripted by Dan Milano (“Robot Chicken”), the remake is a robot reboot that brings the iconic Johnny 5 into the 21st century. Built by the military to be a highly sophisticated weapon, Johnny 5 develops a conscience and personality after being hit by lightning. He befriends a lonely boy and his fractured family.
Instead of the comedy hi-jinks of Steve Guttenberg and a high tech robot, they’ve turned the story into a Lassie kind of thing.
They also mention that Johnny 5 is iconic so I take that to mean he will look like he did in the original films.
JoBlo.com has learned that Hayek has signed on for a role in the new Adam Sandler film that’s tentatively titled Lake House.
Hayek will star along with Sandler, David Spade, Rob Schnieder, Chris Rock and Kevin James in the film, which revolves around a group of high school friends who reunited in their hometown. Hayek would play Sandler’s wife in the film and the site is also reporting that Norm MacDonald and Steve Buscemi have signed onto much smaller roles in the film. It was said the film would be similar to The Big Chill, but more comedic.
Sandler is co-writing the film with Fred Wolf and Dennis Dugan would direct.
Another Adam Sandler film? Are you excited? Looks like he’s getting the gang back together with this one. I love Steve Buscemi’s cameo in Billy Madison. Great stuff.
