The Tournament – Fight scene

Posted by LiveFor on October 18, 2009

This is the film that has a load of assassins fighting each other for a cash prize. Here we have Scott Adkins having a bit of a rumble with Kelly Hu.

Every seven years in an unsuspecting town, ‘The Tournament’ takes place. A battle royale between 30 of the world’s deadliest assassins, with the last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No 1 which itself, carries the legendary million dollar bullet price tag. All fights are monitored 24 hours a day on redirected CCTV camera and broadcast secretly to a ring of high stake billionaire gamblers.

A gritty multistranded action-thriller, ‘The Tournament’ brings together international killers from every imaginable discipline in a blood bathed contest to the death. We follow the ‘favourites’ through stories of love, betrayal, revenge and redemption as they finally discover the value of life.

The film is out on DVD on 20th October.

The Tournament – A whole heap of assassins after Robert Carlyle in this clip

Posted by LiveFor on October 1, 2009

The Tournament DVD coverI posted the trailer for The Tournament back in August and it proved very popular (check it out if you haven’t already). It does look very cool and Twitch found this clip from the film via Scott Adkins Fanz.

I still think it looks like a lot of fun – there is always a place in my heart for mindless action, inventive deaths and assassins getting in the way of each other.

Unfortunately it looks as if we won’t be able to see it on the big screen – looks as if it is going straight to DVD and is due out on 20th October. A shame as I reckon it would look cool on the big screen.

Ninja – Behind the scenes of Scott Adkins ninja flick

Posted by LiveFor on September 17, 2009

Ninja_Poster44Scott Adkins was the guy who did the stunt work for Deadpool in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film. He is a very well trained, kick-ass kind of guy.

As I have mentioned in the past, he is starring in a new film called Ninja. Check out some photos from the film.

A westerner named Casey (Adkins), studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja.

Now these featurette’s and clips from the film have popped up so have a watch and let me know what you think of it.

The Tournament – Lots of assassins trying to kill each other

Posted by LiveFor on August 17, 2009

tournamentbCheck out the trailer for this film by Scott Mann as it looks very cool in a Hard Target kind of way (was that cool? Probably not but you get the idea). Although Mann appears to have directed a few episodes of Stars in Their Eyes which just seems a bit weird!

It stars Robert Carlyle having a very bad day, Kelly Hu (X-Men 2, Martial Law), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), Scott Adkins (Ninja, Wolverine), Ian Somerhalder (Lost) and Sebastien Foucan who is the cool parkour dude from Casino Royale.

Every seven years (although the poster says 10) in an unsuspecting town, The Tournament takes place. A battle royale between 30 of the world’s deadliest assassins. The last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No 1, which itself carries the legendary million dollar a bullet price tag.

Ninja – That’s all you need to know.

Posted by LiveFor on April 17, 2009

Scott Adkins is the actor / stuntman / martial artist who is portraying Deadpool / Weapon XI (along with Ryan Reynolds of course) in the forthcoming film X-Men Origins: Wolverine – I mentioned that a while back. He has starred in The Bourne Ultimatum, Unleashed (Danny the Dog), The Medallion, The Pink Panther, Hollyoaks and Holby City. He gets around. That’s him below.
Now his time has come to play the lead in a film.

  • Will it be a romantic comedy?
  • Maybe a film looking into the depths of one man’s soul?
  • Or could it be a film where he plays a kick-ass Ninja?

Pick one of those three and see if you are right.
You guessed it. Option 3. He will be starring in Isaac Florentine’s upcoming martial arts extravaganza, Ninja. What’s not to love about that title.
A westerner named Casey (Adkins), studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja.
Great synopsis as well. Tells you everything you need to know. Quiet Earth dug up the photos on this post (they have a few more so check them out as well) and they show that it will look lovely as well as having kick-ass Ninja action.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine – The Weapon XI mystery cleared up

Posted by LiveFor on March 6, 2009

Previously on Live for Films: The X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer was released and we saw a bit more of Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. There was also a bald mutant guy with a claw on each hand, eye beams and no mouth. In my previous post I said this was Weapon XI played by Scott Adkins so it wouldn’t be Deadpool. I thought he had all the mutant powers grafted onto him. I was half right.

Topless Robot, via their new inside source, have cleared this up and this is what their source told them about Weapon XI and some other mutants we may see (Spoilers Ahead).

• Ryan Reynolds shows up for 10 minutes in the beginning of the film. He’s part of Stryker’s team, and his mutant ability is mostly being a badass with swords, cutting bullets and the like. He is called Wade Wilson during this period.
• Stryker’s big plan (or one of ‘em) is to make Weapon XI, a mutant with a shit-ton of mutant powers.
• Stryker uses Wilson’s body as the mutant power receptacle, and because of the scarring (I’m not sure whether that’s from a previous fight, or as a result of all the mutant powers getting packed into him), Weapon XI is played by Scott Adkins. Weapon XI appears for about ten minutes near the film’s end, and has the claws seen above (a la Wolverine), Cyclops’ optic blast, Wraith’s teleportation ability, and Wolverine’s healing factor, too. Also, his mouth is indeed sewn shut.
• Just like Weapon X is given the name “Wolverine,” Weapon XI is given the name “Deadpool.”

Apparently, there’s a cameo by a certain Professor at the end of the movie. When Stryker’s compound is falling apart and Wolverine is leading young Emma Frost and Cyclops out of the building, Cyclops suddenly knows the way out. When they get to the door, standing there — oh yes, standing — is Charles Xavier, controlling wee Cyclops’ mind like he’ll be doing several billion more times in the future. He’s apparently not played by Patrick Stewart, by the way. Weird.

Also: Despite what the trailer would have you believe, most of the other mutants are only cameos as well. Gambit only has about 10 minutes of screentime, for instance. Just like the Marvel Universe, it’s Wolverine’s show.

I think it sucks that Ryan Reynolds doesn’t get to be the wisecracking Merc with a Mouth we know and love. However, it could be a good setup for a Deadpool film. I am glad that it will be Wolverine’s film and not loads of people fighting for time on screen.

Deadpool fans what do you think of the news?
