Clash of the Titans – 2nd Trailer releases the Kraken

Posted by LiveFor on December 13, 2009

In this one we get to see Zeus (Liam Neeson) and Hades (Ralph Fiennes) plus lots of monsters including a very Rancor looking Kraken near the end.

Sam Worthington as Perseus is looking very bad ass and there are giant scorpions and harpies aplenty.

Looking very good indeed.

Clash of the Titans – First official poster.

Posted by LiveFor on December 10, 2009

I posted many Clash of the Titans posters a while back when they showed up at one of those Film business shows. Now the first one has been officially released and the good folks of Total Film posted it. If you didn’t already know Medusa is in it and Perseus kills her!

What do you think Perseus is screaming? Is it “Thundercats….Ho!”?

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

“Clash of the Titans” is being directed by Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk”). Leading the international cast is Australian actor Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, king of the gods. Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) takes on the role of the mighty Zeus, and Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, “The English Patient”) plays the role of Hades, god of the underworld, who feeds on human fear. Rounding out the cast is Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace”) as Io, Perseus’ mysterious spiritual guide throughout his journey; Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) as Draco, who takes up his sword to join Perseus’ quest; Jason Flemyng (“Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels”, “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, TV’s “Primeval”) as Acrisius, a one-time king turned hideous beast; and Alexa Davalos (“Defiance”) as Andromeda, a princess doomed to lose her life if Perseus does not succeed.

The Clash begins (that’s a dreadful tagline isn’t it and what is with the terrible font they’ve used for it?) on 26th March 2010.

Posted by LiveFor on November 4, 2009

clashofthetitans-posterscan-med07Well I had my doubts about this film, but the images on these posters are fantastic. I love the look of the Kraken (above) and great to see a bit of Medusa at last.clashofthetitans-posterscan-med05
Above is Gemma Arterton with a giant Scorpion in the background. Below Liam Neeson is rocking the beard look as Zeus with the Kraken in the background.

Clash of the Titans – More photos of Perseus, Witches and other things

Posted by LiveFor on October 4, 2009

Clash of the titans sam worthington
After the photos showing Liam Neeson as Zeus along come a few more showing Sam Worthington as Perseus.

Everything I am seeing for the Louis Leterrier’s film gets me more and more excited.

I am assuming that in the photo above Perseus is talking to the Stygian Witches. Below I think that Gemma Arterton as Io can be see to the left.

The question is who or what is that character next to Perseus below. Is he sneaking up on Percy or helping him? Any ideas who it is?

I can’t wait to see Ralph Fiennes as Hades and Danny Huston as Poseidon. Still no sign of a clockwork owl though!

Clash of the Titans – Liam Neeson as Zeus

Posted by LiveFor on October 3, 2009

As well as leading the A-Team as Hannibal (we finally had our first look at him here), Liam Neeson also happens to be King of the Gods in Louis Leterrier’s remake of Clash of the Titans.

EW have our first look at him in costume. The photo below also shows what could be another God in the top right, but I can’t really make out who it is.

Check out the new photos of Perseus talking to the Three Witches and more.

Photo of Gemma Arteton on the set of Clash of the Titans

Posted by LiveFor on June 15, 2009

This is the first photo of actress Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) in costume on the set of Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans as a new character called Io. The photo was debuted on Gemma Arterton Online.

Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny. Louis Leterrier is directing from a script by Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark).

The photo doesn’t really tell us much, but I am looking forward to seeing more from the film.

A clearer look at Perseus

Posted by LiveFor on June 6, 2009

Here is a better look at Sam Worthington as Perseus in Louis Leterrier’s reimagining of the Clash of the Titans. It is an uncropped version of the first photo I posted – there is also another photo from yesterday. I’m not sure who or what he is fighting. Could it be Medusa (although he is looking right at it)

I love the jagged shield and the fact everything looks battle worn. A lot better than the shiny shield and sword that Harry Hamlin used in the original.

Now if we could only see some photos of the beasts and Gods he will be facing.

Clash of the Titans – First proper look at Perseus

Posted by LiveFor on June 2, 2009

This is out first proper look of Sam Worthington in action as Perseus and it does look pretty cool. Looks like he will be kicking serious ass and makes me wish they would do a David Gemmell adaption with this kind of look.

Odysseus will find you and will kill you.

Posted by LiveFor on April 27, 2009

Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the sword-and-sandal actioneer Odysseus according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Utilising the character from Homer’s ‘The Iliad’ and ‘The Odyssey’, the story seems to skip almost all of the events of ‘The Odyssey’ which followed the journey home from Troy of the famed king of Ithaca – That means no Circe, no Cyclops, no Sirens etc.

In this incarnation the story begins upon his arrival home, only to discover it is under the brutal occupation of an invading force. He single-handedly defeats every last man and takes back his wife, his son and his kingdom.

That makes it sound like a cross between Taken, Die Hard, 300, Rambo and Point Blank. Actually Liam Neeson would make an excellent Odysseus.

Ann Peacock penned the script and Jonathan Liebesman is attached to direct once he wraps work on “Battle: Los Angeles”. Gianni Nunnari is producing.

George Miller and Brad Pitt are also developing a futuristic outer space version of ‘The Odyssey’ for the studio that I mentioned back in October last year.

Who do you think would be good to play the hero Odysseus? Do you like the idea of using this part of the tale for a film?
