The Random – Patrick Stewart in Mad Max 4, Zac Efron as Spider-Man, Spock as Gershwin, Bourne with no Damon, Kathryn Bigelow wins best Director at DGA Awards, Being Human gets a third series

Posted by LiveFor on February 1, 2010

- Patrick Stewart has mentioned he is working with director George Miller on a film and it isn’t Happy Feet 2. Still very much a rumour via AICN, but it would be very cool to see Stewart in the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max. I’m hoping he plays a bad guy.

- An even bigger rumour (an probably totally made up as it comes from the UK magazine OK) is that Zac Efron could be the new Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4. The article says that Tobey Maguire has picked Zac and that his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens could be Mary Jane. Zac is closer in age to the Peter Parker back at high school tale they want to tell. Do you think it could be true? Go and vote on who you want to be the new Spidey.

- Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, Heroes) could be down to play George Gershwin and Spielberg may be directing.

- After basically wrapping up the Bourne franchise in Bourne Ultimatum it looks as if the studio want to continue the franchise, but so far they have no tale to tell. Empire have word from Matt Damon that the next Bourne could be a prequel and feature a different actor playing the younger version of Bourne. “There’ll probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director before we do another one,” he said, “just because I think we’re probably another five years away from doing it – we’ve got to get a script…”

- The Hurt Locker’s Kathryn Bigelow is the first woman to win the Directors Guild of America award for Outstanding Directorial Effort In Feature Film this weekend, calling it “the most incredible moment of my life.” Does this mean she’ll win the Oscar or will James Cameron get it for Avatar?

- The excellent Being Human (the show about a Vampire, Werewolf and Ghost living together) is currently showing its second series. Word from the BBC is that a third series has already been given the go ahead and the main cast are still in place. Fantastic news. Go watch the new series now.

Star Trek – Spock, Scotty and Kirk talk about Warp Speed

Posted by LiveFor on April 9, 2009

Spock (Zachary Quinto) who is acting Captain demands Kirk (Chris Pine) and Scotty (Simon Pegg) tell him how Scotty was able to beam aboard at warp speed.

There is a reason for the way they are acting and speaking in this clip, but to say more would spoil the film.

Star Trek – Live Interactive coverage for the premiere. You can submit questions via Twitter

Posted by LiveFor on April 6, 2009

Paramount Pictures International (PPI) today announced plans to bring live interactive coverage from the world premiere of J.J Abrams’ hotly anticipated movie STAR TREK at Sydney Opera House – the first time a film has premiered in the Concert Hall of Australia’s most iconic building.

The premiere is taking place on Tuesday April 7th and PPI will have a team of bloggers using the latest mobile technology & social media to bring the red carpet event to life, alongside a fan-submitted Q&A from the press junket.

Fans are invited to submit questions for film-makers including director J.J Abrams’ and cast members Eric Bana, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto via Twitter using an #asktrek hashtag.

Video responses to a selection of these questions will be published to a dedicated Star Trek channel using social multimedia network Phreadz, alongside a live Twitter feed and photos served via Flickr (see http://startrek.phreadz.com).

This channel will also feature a live Ustream feed direct from the red carpet, bringing the premiere to life for fans in all four corners of the web. This will be going live at 7am GMT on Tuesday, and will be archived and available to view throughout the day.

As well as creating this social media back-channel PPI will be capturing more traditional audio-visual red carpet publicity edits for subtitling and syndication via a global network of sites and online services including MSN and Real Player.

This initiative is being co-ordinated by Picture Production Company who previously collaborated with PPI to bring film-makers to online platforms including virtual worlds Second Life, PlayStation Home and video-blogging community Seesmic.
