Lobo to be directed by Guy Ritchie

Posted by LiveFor on September 3, 2009

lobo11Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct an adaptation of the DC Comics character Lobo, who just so happens to be an alien interstellar bounty hunter. According to Variety Don Payne wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay, with Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona set to produce.

The film will serve as Ritchie’s follow-up to this Christmas’ Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The character first appeared in the 1983 DC comic Omega Men, written by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Lobo has had several comic incarnations. In this new film, he will be a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.

Warner Brothers is looking to make the film PG-13 rated. Production on Lobo is set to being early next year.

I can’t wait to see the main man on the big screen but a PG-13 Lobo is just stupid. The character killed his entire race just so he could be unique and lives for ultra-violence. Still any Lobo is good.

Question is will he be a fully CGI character? Who could play the last Czarnian?

a load of reli bad news (still bad news is good news so thanks haha) but honestly yea PG13??? are u kiddin me? I WANT BLOOD, I WANT MAYHEM!
the only reason i can see for guy ritchie bein offered the directing part is because of dialogue delivery. he knows how to get actors talkin smooth and cool; one thing lobo is deffo reli gd at. but ideally…i think, this is the kind of movie that rob zombie could pull off so well. he would also be the perfect cast for the lead. hes got the haircut, the badass attitude, the voice…its all there.

even McG could do this better than ritchie i fear. rodriguez would be my fav choice after zombie. hes got the edge and roughness. no other clue for the leadrole…

thinkin about it more luc besson could direct it (in the style of 5th element) or Pierre Morel (banlieue 13) and maybe even matthieu kassovitz. dont kno why all the french guys. but these dudes cud pull it off.

for the lead maybe vin diesel or vinnie jones. not my choices for sure..but these guys are likely to be chosen.

      Good choice of directors.

Vinne Jones please god no! 🙂

I think it will probably be a CGI Lobo and then they’ll get someone to voice him – who would have a cool voice for Lobo?

i m not gd 2 ask for voices… someone who s done voice work for animated marvel or dc movies i guess? or mickey rourke? i was gonna say he could play the role too, but hes a little too…unfit now…he cant reli pull of a raging lobo anymore.

how about michael madsen? as lobo either in real life or voice??
hes really got the looks if u ask me..the broad forehead, nose etc! his character in reservoir dogs is pretty close.

just found this (never seen it before thou cast is stuffed full of big names and presented by QT) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWH-ZuflBRo
madsen plays some sort of outlaw who likes guns and motorbikes. now just add some space to the mix and there ya go.

Mickey Rourke as the voice would work as would Kurt Russell. A bit of the old Snake Plissken would be so cool
