Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin to present the 2010 Oscars

Posted by LiveFor on November 4, 2009

martin-baldwin-oscarsThe people in charge of the Oscars, AMPAS, recently said Hugh Jackman would not be presenting the awards in 2010.

Today they have said that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will serve as co-hosts of the 82nd Academy Awards on 7th March 2010 according to First Showing.

“We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars,” said producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman. “Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.”

“I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin,” Martin said. “I don’t play the banjo but I’m thrilled to be hosting the Oscars – it’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” Baldwin said.

Baldwin has been doing great things on 30 Rock. Martin has been doing the Pink Panther.

Do you think it is a good team to present the Oscars next year?

i think it sucks. my dead uncle would do a better job. what’s wrong with the academy? they need a host that’s going to attract younger viewers. ok, had my say now i’ll have my coffee…

Hope you enjoyed the coffee. It’s also a bit naff as Martin and Baldwin are in the forthcoming film It’s Complicated.

If it wasn’t them who would everyone liked to have seen host next years Oscars?

The Oscars is possibly the most boring thing on TV. The only upside of it is the comedy performances of the hosts, the short sketches and the movie montage’. Billy Crystal has been the most fun to watch, Hugh Jackman song and dance version was so different it was also extremely fun to watch. It needs to be someone able to improvise and rely too heavily on a script, yet still make the audience very at ease. What I remember of Steve Martin doing it last time is zero, so that didn’t leave a lasting impression. Baldwin isn’t a naturally funny guy either – but can be a very funny actor.
How about getting the Three Amigos back together instead, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short!? Or Seth Rogen and Bill Hader hosting as the two cops they play in SuperBad. Or Kevin Smith!

Kevin Smith would be genius! How about Seth Rogen and James Franco in character as their Pineapple Express characters
