Tron Legacy – Michael Sheen talks about his virtual nightclub

While chatting about his time in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland with Sci-Fi Wire, Michael Sheen got onto the subject of Tron Legacy “Similar in a way, isn’t it? Certainly in the first Tron film, Jeff’s [Bridges] character gets kind of sucked into this Wonderland-type place. So there’s a similarity to it. We go back to the world of Tron 28 years later, and technology has moved on. All the same things that we saw in the first Tron film will be there, but it’s just, again, in a new light and with 28 years of technology.”
I thought Sheen was playing the big bad of the piece but now I am not so sure. It looks as if he runs some kind of nightclub in the computer world. “I run the nightclub,” Sheen said. “I am the host of the nightclub and a showman, this sort of very over-the-top character.”
As to whether Daft Punk, who are providing the soundtrack to the sequel, will be performing on screen in his club Sheen didn’t commit either way. “I’m not sure,” he said. “I’m not sure.”
As for filming itself it sounds as if Sheen got lucky in that his nightclub was a physical set. “It was fantastic,” Sheen said. “It was this amazing set and all these amazing people there. For a film that has a lot of green screen, I got the most fun bits to do.”
Now all I want to see is some more photos and footage from the film.
