The Rockford Files – Wash to star opposite Dermot Mulroney

Posted by LiveFor on March 12, 2010

Alan Tudyk (Firefly, V, Dollhouse) is set to co-star opposite Dermot Mulroney in NBC’s pilot “Rockford Files,” an update of the classic 1970s P.I. series. I loved the original James Garner show and it had one of the best theme tunes. They don’t make good theme tunes for TV shows anymore. I also loved the answer phone messages that Jim Rockford used to get left.

THR have the news that the new series written by “House” creator David Shore, stars Mulroney as Jim Rockford, who is “slightly crumpled, wry humored, cynical, world weary, compassionate when it’s called for and easily irritated by morons.”

Tudyk will play Det. Dennis Becker, a friend of Rockford’s who is a bit embarrassed by that since all the other cops hate Rockford.

It will never be as cool as James Garner’s Rockford but it does sound promising and could be another Burn Notice kind of thing.

How do you feel about them reopening the Rockford Files?
