Vanessa Paradis’ Heartbreaker to open 14th LA Francophile Festival

Posted by LiveFor on March 31, 2010

Pascal Chaumeil’s Heartbreaker (“L’Arnacoeur”), a romantic comedy starring Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis is to open the for the 14th Annual City of Lights, City of Angels (COL•COA) Film Festival – 52 French films (32 features, 20 shorts) including four international and nine US and North American premieres – Los Angeles April 19-25.

Heartbreaker is an action-packed romantic comedy, led by actress-singer Vanessa Paradis (Girl on the Bridge, The Key) and art house heartthrob Romain Duris (The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Paris (COL•COA 2008), Russian Dolls). Duris is Alex, a professional Don Juan who makes a living breaking up couples with his sister Mélanie (Julie Ferrier, MicMacs). Because business is slow, they go against their principles to break up only unhappy couples and agree to work for M. Van Der Bercq. Alex has one week to stop Van Der Bercq’s daughter Juliette (Vanessa Paradis) from marrying the man she is madly in love with. This questionable mission becomes hazardous for Alex, as he enters the world of the beautiful, self-assured and independent Juliette and her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Jonathan.

Check out the COLCOA official site for the full line up.

I simply loved this movie ! The trailer isn’t really attractive but it’s very funny ! Romain Duris gives another side of his talent and Vanessa Paradis proves once again she can be a good comedian. The story isn’t complicated but the characters are so great that they make you feel just happy watching them.

this film is on my must see list. Check out the website:…i‘ve liked paradis’ work ever since i saw ‘girl on the bridge’…she’s one of those actors that comes alive onscreen…talented for sure, but makes it look so damn easy. she received a cesar award – the french oscar – for…i believe…her first film role. her next film is rumoured to be
‘my seduction’…in which she’ll play a doctor…to be shot this coming fall.
