The Last Airbender – New trailer

Posted by LiveFor on April 24, 2010

Turns out this is going to be converted into 3D which sucks as until I heard that I was looking forward to seeing this. Clash of the Titans really put me off films shot in 2D then converted into 3D. However, M Night Shyamalan is going to oversee the conversion for this one so it may be slightly better.

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war—torn world. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live—action feature film The Last Airbender is the opening chapter in Aangs struggle.

The Last Airbender – Here’s Sokka

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2010

Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale in Twilight) plays the role of Sokka, a young warrior from the Southern Water tribe, in M Night Shyamalan.

In the original cartoon, fifteen-year-old Sokka is a warrior of the South Pole’s Southern Water Tribe, a race of people who can control and manipulate water.

Gorillaz are back with Stylo, a Mad Max style video and Bruce Willis – 2D is now 3D

Posted by LiveFor on March 2, 2010

A very cool video for a very cool band. I didn’t think much of the song at first but it is a grower.

Saw the band a few years ago on the Demon Days tour at the Manchester Opera house and it is just stunning.

Q have an interview with the band and they explain some things:

-about Noodle, after the El Manana vid ‘there was no sign of her at the video site’ so he collected some of her DNA from the wreckage
– Murdoc learnt that Noodle was in hell and he did go there to try and rescue her. But he did not find her in hell and had to come back.
– the Noodle we see now is an android replica built using her DNA
– Kong was officially burnt down by Murdoc in an insurance scam in July 2009. But he had some of it shipped to Plastic Beach
– Murdoc got involved in a pyramid scheme and gun running and lost a lot of money, so needed to make a new album
– he chose Point Nemo in the Pacific ocean as a good spot to hide out
– the article says all of The Horrors are Murdoc’s children, by different mothers
– Murdoc says he stole Damon’s work-in-progress for Damon’s project Carousel and used it to help write Plastic Beach
– the article says Noodle had an “accident” at the NYC shows when a lighting rig fell on her, they are not sure if Paula Cracker did it or if Jacob (Niccals) did it
– Murdoc does NOT say Russel died, HOWEVER, Russel is not mentioned in the article apart from going missing after the NYC shows and it specifically says 2D, android Noodle and Murdoc are on Plastic Beach, giving descriptions of them. The article says ‘Russel is missing in action, Murdoc had to program the drums himself’

I love the whole blurring of reality with the Gorillaz. Everything bleeds into everything else.

The new album is called Plastic Beach and is out on 8th March.

The Last Airbender – New trailer now with added dialogue

Posted by LiveFor on February 10, 2010

Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film’s hero, the reluctant young Aang (Noah Ringer), is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka, Aang proceeds on a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Dev Patel plays the Fire Nation’s evil prince Zuko. Exiled from the Fire Nation by his father, Zuko is sent to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor and right to the throne.

The Last Airbender will hit theaters on July 2nd 2010

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Now we’ve seen some of the actual acting an character work from M Night Shyamalan’s adaption of the cartoon what do you think of it?

The Last Airbender – Super Bowl trailer for M Night Shyamalan’s live action adaption of the cartoon

Posted by LiveFor on February 4, 2010

Been a while since new footage of this one. I think it looks great, but all we are seeing are fight scenes and effects. No way to tell what the acting or story will be like.

What do you think? Is Shyamalan back on form or has he destroyed a well liked cartoon show?

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Batman talks about Bale’s Batman voice

Posted by LiveFor on September 1, 2009

batmanKevin Conroy is the voice of Batman for many people. If you enjoy Batman: The Animated Series then you know what I am talking about. He is cool as Bruce Wayne (I still think Billy Zane should have been a live action Batman), but as Bats he excels with the self assured, menacing voice. The clip below shows what I am talking about.

As you may well know, Conroy recently got back in the cowl to voice Batman in Batman: Arkham Asylum – an excellent video game that I am currently playing. The plot is written by Paul Dini and Mark Hamill is also back to voice the Joker, so it is very much the gang’s all here for the game.

Conroy recently spoke to Wired about the game and he had some interesing words on Hamill and Heath Ledger’s version of the Joker, but even better he had something to say about Christian Bale’s Batman growl in The Dark Knight.

“Mark is incredible as always,” Conroy said. “There’s no one I’d rather have voicing The Joker.”

“I think Mark created the definitive ‘crazy’ Joker. There’s no question Heath Ledger gave an unbelievable performance in The Dark Knight as a scheming, anarchist Joker. But Mark perfected that fun, insane character.”

“Reuniting the cast and so many people from the animated series made Arkham Asylum such a great experience,” Conroy added. “After working with (the animated series crew) for so many years, you develop a shorthand that allows everything to work really smoothly.”

What did he think of Bale’s voice in The Dark Knight.

“I thought Christian was excellent as Bruce Wayne, but I didn’t understand his choices there. I thought it was over the top and distracted from his scenes as Batman. I’m not sure what they were going for there. But, what do I know?”

When Christian Bale was asked what he thought about Kevin Conroy’s comments he had this to say:
GoddamnBatman
Not really, that’s just the work of Frank Miller and Jim Lee in All Star Batman and Robin.

Good news for Batman fans as Kevin Conroy is also voicing him in the forthcoming Superman / Batman: Public Enemies DVD that is out on 29th September.
