UPDATED: Casting News – Yelchin in Fright Night, Harrison Ford in Cowboys and Aliens, Emily Blunt as Catwoman

Posted by LiveFor on April 7, 2010

Rumours, reality who knows. Here’s the skinny.

Fright Night – Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) is in negotiations to star in “Fright Night,” DreamWorks’ remake of the cult 1985 vampire film. Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) is helming the new version, which sticks to the concept of a teen being convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, although no one will believe him. – Heat Vision

Catwoman – Rumour has it that Emily Blunt passed on “Captain America” because she’s hoping to star as Selina Kyle in “Batman 3” accordingto Batman on Film — “if Chris Nolan uses the character,” the source notes. They stress that this is very much a rumour. I do think that Blunt would make a cracking Selina Kyle.

Cowboys and AliensLatino Review have another rumour saying that Harrison Ford could be joining Jon Favreau’s next comic book film, based on an anonymous tip indicating that “Ford was about to join a huge comic book movie to be directed by a director coming off a soon to be released huge comic book movie.”

Favreau did writer Twitter: “Some very cool Cowboys & Aliens casting news coming soon.” Take that however you wish.

UPDATE: “Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is,” wrote Favreau on Twitter. “Please don’t tell anybody.”

What do you think about the possible casting bits? I would love to see Ford back in a sci-fi kind of thing. He needs to make up geek points since the last Indy film.

POLL: What Batman villain should be in the next film?

Posted by LiveFor on February 9, 2010

With the recent news that Batman 3 is being written and Christopher Nolan is still involved I thought I would ask which of Batman’s rogue gallery you wanted to see.

You can pick 3 as these films often go overboard on the villains. You can also go and vote on who you want to play Catwoman if she is used (Summer Glau is in the lead at the time this went to press) and which actor has been your favourite Batman.

Thanks to Pat for suggesting the poll. Check out all the other polls.

POLL: Who should Play Catwoman?

Posted by LiveFor on January 9, 2010

Catwoman_65_by_AdamHughesYes, yes, I know that there has been no story set for a third Batman film and Christopher Nolan is still not definitely said he is going to do it or what characters will appear.

However, it is Friday and the weekend is almost upon. I thought I would ask you, dear reader, who you think would be most suitable to play Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman. If there is someone else you feel would be best in the role who I haven’t put in the poll then whack their name in the comments below.

Batgirl, Catwoman, Wonder Woman…I’m sorry what was I talking about?

Posted by LiveFor on July 10, 2009

Apparantly this is an advert for a Mexican department store. However, it features three lovely ladies dressed up as Batgirl, Catwoman and Wonder Woman and in the grand scheme of things is that not the most important thing to remember.

Batman: Black & White – Epic fan film

Posted by LiveFor on April 9, 2009

Fan Cinema Today have doen it again by digging up this little gem. Now this is a fan film and a half. It was made by Christopher Schrader. Shot for 25 days across three months in the fall of 2007, the 110-minute fan film was made for $2,000, and is divided into three 24-minute segments.

Lots of Batman goodness and done in three parts like a comic book serial. Have a good watch of it and let me know what you thought of it.

The dynamic duo is no more. The last Robin, Tim Drake, has become a detective for the GCPD and is working feverishly to bring down Rupert Thorne’s criminal syndicate. Lately, he’s been getting some help from an unexpected ally… Selina Kyle. Even still, their efforts have not had a devastating enough impact on the operation.

Then the murders begin. Members of Thorne’s hit squad are being butchered by a mysterious serial killer. The evidence points towards Batman. Now, the Dark Knight must put his strained relationships with Tim & Selina aside so that the three of them can track down the real killer. But each has their own idea of justice and their own ulterior motives.

The deeper their investigation goes, the more they begin to blur the lines between good & evil, right & wrong, and black & white…

DCU Elementary – Superheroes at school

Posted by LiveFor on September 4, 2008

This from Rich Johnston over at Lying in the Gutters.

You know all that talk of the darkening of DC Comics? What with Marveldog Miracledog Wonderdog eviscerating two children’s cartoon characters in “Teen Titans,” and Warner Bros love of the darkness in “Dark Knight” and wanting it in the new “Superman” movie, the “JLA” movie, hell why not have a serial killing transvestite “Bugs Bunny” movie while we’re at it?
If you need a break, some good news. “DCU Elementary” is an upcoming DC project, with all the bad guys and good guys of the DC Universe at school. Currently unscheduled, but it’s good to go.

Gyllenhaal as Catwoman?

Posted by LiveFor on August 5, 2008

Since The Dark Knight hit there have been all sorts of rumours as to who will be starring in the next one. Angelina Jolie as Catwoman, Johnny Depp as the Riddler, Phillip Seymore Hoffman as the Penguin. All have been knocking about. Of course nothing has been set in stone as Christopher Nolan has not got anything going for the next movie as yet. Although I’m sure he has lots of ideas.

** Possible Spoilers ** One theory that works very well and ties in with the The Dark Knight is by having the character of Rachel Dawes become Catwoman. The full idea is here.

I really like this idea. It ties in with the fact Rachel’s character didn’t really do much in both movies, the way she looked when she realised Batman had turned up to save Harvey Dent as opposed to her (she had no way of knowing the Joker manipulated the whole thing), we never saw her body (which, in comic book terms, means she will be alive! Bucky Dead no longer applies) and so she will be majorley pissed at poor Bruce.

Maybe she will come back in the sequel, maybe she’ll have amnesia about who Batman really is? Maybe she won’t. It’s all still very early days for this kind of talk I know, but I can really see this being the way of bringing in Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and tying it into the emotional turmoil that has battered Bruce Wayne in the previous movies. We shall have to wait and see. What do you think?

(BTW, the above image is by Adam Hughes a great comic book artist).

Discuss in the forum.
