Doctor Who – What do you think so far?

Posted by LiveFor on April 11, 2010

We are now two episodes in to Matt Smith’s run as the Doctor and Steven Moffat behind the scenes.

So far I have been impressed with Smith. He is more like a mad professor and the character’s scary intelligence comes across more than it did with Tennant.

Karen Gillan as Amy Pond is also a great actress and could well be a classic Companion.

Story wise the bad guys have been a bit week though, but early days. However, there does appear to be a bit of an increase in the budget or at least with what they are doing with it.

That’s all from me. Now over to you. What do you think of the show so far?

Discuss in the comments below.

Here is the trailer for next weeks episode.

Wouldn’t it be great if they could cross it over with the Empty Child episodes from Christopher Eccleston’s turn as the Doctor.

Christopher Ecclestone as John Lennon

Posted by LiveFor on January 15, 2010

Here we have former Time Lord Christopher Ecclestone as Lennon.

It is for a BBC drama called Lennon Naked which charts his transition from Beatle John to enduring and enigmatic icon.

It was back in November 2009 that news of this project came out.

The film highlights the years from 1967 to 1971 when the Beatle was ending his first marriage to Cynthia as Yoko Ono entered his life, coping with the death of manager Brian Epstein and the group’s own messy and acrimonious disintegration.

Also featured are Naoko Mori, whose credits include “Torchwood” and “Absolutely Fabulous,” who plays Ono, and Rory Kinnear as Epstein.

Other cast members include Claudie Blakley, who featured in the BBC period drama “Cranford,” as Cynthia Lennon, and Irish actor Andrew Scott as Paul McCartney.

Christopher Eccleston to play John Lennon in Beatles break-up film

Posted by LiveFor on November 30, 2009

We’ve had Beatles Rock Band, the original albums reissued and a film about John Lennon’s early years (Nowhere Boy).

Now Variety report that the turbulent and often tragic life of John Lennon is to be the subject of another British film.

In the latest biopic, commissioned by BBC Four, Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Heroes, Our Friends in the North, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra) plays the rock star in Naked Lennon.

The film highlights the years from 1967 to 1971 when the Beatle was ending his first marriage to Cynthia as Yoko Ono entered his life, coping with the death of manager Brian Epstein and the group’s own messy and acrimonious disintegration.

Also featured are Naoko Mori, whose credits include “Torchwood” and “Absolutely Fabulous,” who plays Ono, and seasoned British thesp Rory Kinnear as Epstein.

Other cast members include Claudie Blakley, who featured in the BBC period drama “Cranford,” as Cynthia Lennon, and Irish actor Andrew Scott as Paul McCartney.

Could be interesting, but not sure on Eccleston as Lennon? Do you think he will be able to be the Working Class Hero?

Holy Destro’s Mask – Concept art for the G.I. Joe bad guy

Posted by LiveFor on August 4, 2009

destroStephen Sommers, the director of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, has put this lovely piece of concept art on his official site.

It is the mask of James Cullen or Destro, played by Christopher Eccleston. Judging by this pic it will look rather cool.

Previously, we have seen an image of him from the action figure packaging and also some early CG work from the film.

What are your thoughts on the concept art? I’m still not sure if this film is going to be a great big mess or cheesily good.
