Dark City Poster Redesign Challenge – The Results

Posted by LiveFor on May 5, 2010

By ckc1ne

Well I finally got round to posting my favourite 3 poster redesigns in the Dark City challenge. Sorry I took so long.

Everyone who entered did a sterling job and many made me laugh. Thanks to everyone who entered and head on over to the Forum to see all the posters. Once again the various casting ideas are truly inspired.

The current challenge is to redesign a poster for Fight Club. More info on that here.

Design Challenge – Fight Club

Posted by LiveFor on April 24, 2010

Okay Space Monkeys. Here is a new challenge for you.

Robocop and Dark City went well (at the time of writing I am still going through the latter. Will post them later).

Here is what you have to do for the next one.

You are a film poster designer and have been asked to put together a poster for a new film called Fight Club.

The only info you have about it:

– A loner with insomnia and a cool guy set up an underground fight club.

– They live in a strange dilapidated house.

– One of the men is not what they seem.

– A crazy woman keeps hassling them.

– They make soap and a large man with breasts joins the Club.

– Clubs spread around the country and turns to terrorism

It can be any genre, could be set in any place, any time and is yet to be cast – you can choose the actors and director

You have until 16th May.

From badly drawn mayhem to super slick graphic design, all entries are welcome. Remember even if it is bad only after disaster can we be resurrected.

Post your posters over on the Forum – the best ones will get shown on the site.

This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time. Go and do something cool and creative.

I would say go and spread the word but you all know what the first rule of Fight Club is.

Go and create.

LFF Robocop Poster Redesign Challenge – The Results

Posted by LiveFor on April 1, 2010

By ckc1ne.

The Live for Films Robocop Poster Redesign Challenge ended yesterday and I have been blown away by the results. I thought there would be a couple of posters. 3 tops. Instead there were 10 and all are excellent.

Whether it be a lovely professional look, cool casting, stupendous taglines (He’s made out of Fucking Metal is my fave) or just great fun all are brilliant and worthy to enter the LFF Hall of Awesome.

Have a good look at them all (check out the Forum where they got posted first with the designer’s comments) and have a go at the next LFF Poster Design Challenge – This one is for the film Dark City.

Hopefully for some of the future ones there will be celebrity judges.

Let me know which is your favourite in the comments.

LFF Dark City Poster Redesign Challenge

Posted by LiveFor on April 1, 2010

The first Poster Design Challenge for Robocop went well (thanks to everyone who entered) so I thought I would do another one.

Here is the brief for the new one:

You are a film poster designer and have been asked to put together a poster for a new film called Dark City.

The only info you have about it is:

– There is a City that no one can leave

– Everyone falls asleep at the same time

– One man find himself awake

– Strange beings / creatures wander the City wander around when everyone is asleep

It could be set in any place, any genre, any time and is yet to be cast – you can choose the actors and director

You have until 18th April.

From badly drawn mayhem to super slick graphic design, all entries are welcome.

Post your posters over on the Forum – the best ones will get shown on the Live for Films website (all submissions are the property of the artist who did them, but having a go means you’re saying it is okay for me to post your poster on the LFF site – cheers).

Spread the word and happy drawing.

UPDATED: Movie Poster Design Challenge – Robocop

Posted by LiveFor on March 12, 2010

UPDATE: A few people have said that a week is not long enough so how about for the first one I make it until the 31st March?

I was going to say that this is based on the idea Warren Ellis has started over on his blog where he gives design challenges in the REMAKE/REMODEL thing. I’ve just taken the whole idea as I think it is so good. Hope that’s okay Mr Ellis.

Hopefully I’ll get at least one response. Fingers crossed there will be more and it can become a weekly thing

Here is the first one:

You are a film poster designer and have been asked to put together a poster for a new film called Robocop.

The only info you have about it:

-A policeman is gunned down by criminals

-A corporation take his body and improve it through the technology of the time to fight crime

-He has no memory of his past

-He has a gun in his leg

-There is an alternate technologically advanced policeman called ED-209

It could be set in any era and is yet to be cast – you can choose the actors and director.

You have until 31st March.
