Eric Stoltz to direct war movie, Racing Patriots

Posted by LiveFor on May 6, 2010

The man who could have been Marty McFly, Eric Stoltz, is down to direct Racing Patriots. Sounds like a crazy mix of racing cars and warfare.

The story, written by Frederic Helmer, follows three Grand Prix champs who escaped from France in 1940 and were trained by Winston Churchill’s Special Operations Unit as spies and saboteurs. They soon help lead the French resistance during the occupation under the noses of the Gestapo and Nazi terrorism experts.

Samuel Le Bihan will star as Robert Benoist, a WWI flying ace and 1927 World Champion. The other two roles – First Monaco Grand Prix winner William Grover-Williams, and 1937 and 1939 Le Mans winner Jean Pierre Wimille – have yet to be announced.

Does sound very intriguing and will be interesting to see what Stoltz does with it.

Caprica – Some clips from the Battlestar Galactica prequel

Posted by LiveFor on March 24, 2009

Now that Battlestar Galactica is over the attention is now on the prequel series Caprica. Below is the series synopsis from the Sci-Fi Channel or Syfy, along with some clips from the show.

An astonishing breakthrough is taking shape on the planet Caprica. The rapidly evolving spheres of human and mechanical engineering have collided, along with the fates of two families. Joined by tragedy in an explosive instant of terror, two rival clans led by powerful patriarchs, Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) and Daniel Greystone (Eric Stoltz) duel in an era of questionable ethics, corporate machinations and unbridled personal ambition as the final war for humanity looms. The latest phenomenon from the executive producers of Battlestar Galactica (Ronald D. Moore and David Eick), set in a time over 50 years earlier, Caprica is entirely its own world – provocative, thrilling and startling relevant to our own.

Having watched the clips do you feel this will be a worthy replacement for Battlestar Galactica?
