Riddick will return. This time Vin Diesel is correct.

Posted by LiveFor on February 12, 2010

I am a big fan of Riddick. Funnily enough I watched Pitch Black on Blu-Ray a couple of nights ago and I enjoy the Chronicles of Riddick despite a few of its flaws. Therefore, I have been following the possibility of a third Riddick film closely.

For a long time Vin Diesel has been talking about a new Riddick film, but it has always just been talk. The second film didn’t do so well. It made $116 million worldwide, but the budget for it had been $105 million so it was doubtful a third would ever see the light of day. It did carry on with a series of video games which kept the character going. Vin and director David Twohy always had faith in the project. Now it looks as if that faith has been justified.

Variety have the news that Universal have given the go ahead for a third film. David Twohy who wrote and directed the first two films in the series, will do the same for the third film which will simply be titled Riddick.

There is no word on what the plot will be, but insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit “Pitch Black” and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits, which was the case with the Chronicles of Riddick. Not sure if it will follow on from that film where Riddick ended up being leader of the Necromongers.

I’m really looking forward to seeing some more of Riddick and glad they are going back to the tone of Pitch Black, although I personally enjoyed seeing the Universe building in the second film. I do hope they tie up the plot from that installment and that it get’s an R / 18 Rating so Riddick can be a proper nasty bastard and kill you nasty!

What did you think of the first two films and do you want to see Riddick on the big screen again?

New Fast & The Furious film is go – Fast Five?

Posted by LiveFor on February 4, 2010

Because someone demanded it Universal Pictures is burning rubber and other road racing related puns for another chapter of Fast and Furious according to Variety. At the minute it is being called Fast Five, but I imagine that will be changed.

Vin Diesel is taking time out from talking about The Chronicles of Riddick to star in it along with Paul Walker. Director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz will also return. Basically, the series of films is making a load of money so they’ll keep on keeping on.

Diesel and Walker didn’t feature in the third film returned for last year’s fourth installment, which was the highest-grossing “Fast and Furious” film and Universal’s top earner of 2009 making more than $350 million worldwide.

The story follows Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen.

Shooting this year for a 2011 release.

Are you a fan of the Fast & Furious films? Are you looking forward to a new one? Anyone have a better title for it?

Higlander to get the remake treatment

Posted by LiveFor on September 23, 2009

Highlander-KurganArmorI love the original Highlander. Christopher Lambert’s Scottish / French accent. Sean Connery as a Spanish Egyptian with a Sean Connery Accent and Clancy Brown as the awesome Kurgan. A perfect mix for any film involving sword fighting immortals. Then there were sequels but we don’t talk about them in these parts.

Now the news is out that there will be a reboot / remake of the original film which is really cool. Then you read they want the people behind Fast and Furious to make it which is not so cool. Fast cars and immortals are a tad different. Does this mean Paul Walker and Vin Diesel will be taking over the original parts. Dear Supreme Being of your choice I hope not.

Acclaimed Action Director Justin Lin and Producer Neal H. Moritz Join IRON MAN Screenwriters Marcum and Holloway, Original HIGHLANDER Producer Peter Davis on Board

Los Angeles, CA September 22, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that it has tapped the filmmaking team behind this spring’s hit film FAST & FURIOUS – director Justin Lin and producer Neal H. Moritz – to direct and produce respectively the studio’s re-imagination of the cult film HIGHLANDER. Summit’s HIGHLANDER is being written by IRON MAN screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Peter Davis, long time producer of HIGHLANDER, will also produce the film. Summit acquired the rights to remake the cult classic from Davis – Panzer Productions, Inc. in May of 2008.

Summit’s film will expand on the original HIGHLANDER’s core mythology of immortals battling amongst us, hunting each other through the ages by tapping its newly minted creative team to take its re-imagination to new heights. Plans call for the re-imagination to spur a new franchise for the studio.

“We are privileged to have this amazing opportunity to reinvent one of the great franchises,” said Patrick Wachsberger, co-chairman of Summit Entertainment. “Neal and Justin have proven more than once that they can deliver an entertaining and exciting blockbuster.”

Added Peter Davis of Davis-Panzer Productions, “Justin and Neal are an exciting directing/producing team and I am confident that they will deliver a truly dynamic film while being totally respectful of HIGHLANDER Legend.”

In HIGHLANDER, after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize.

Justin Lin most recently directed the hit action film FAST & FURIOUS, the fourth film of the FAST & FURIOUS franchise. He also directed THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT, and BETTER LUCK TOMORROW.

In addition to FAST & FURIOUS, Neal Moritz and his Original Film banner have produced a myriad of action films including the upcoming FLASH GORDON and THE GREEN HORNET as well as I AM LEGEND, 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS, and I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER.

NY Times have a big feature on Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds that has this interesting piece of news – “Not to mention a shelved subplot about African-American soldiers stuck behind enemy lines. ‘I have a half-written prequel ready to go if this movie’s a smash,’ he said.”

– Wes Anderson’s animated adaptation of Fantastic Mr. Fox will be released under Fox’s Fox Searchlight “indie”-focused label. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 13th in the States, but on October 22nd/23rd in UK and Russia.

Jason Patric (The Lost Boys, Narc) may be the bad guy in the comic book adaption of The Losers. The good guys currently consist of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the team leader, Zoe Saldana, Iris Elba and Columbus Short.

– Matthew Goode (“Brideshead Revisited,” “Watchmen”) has joined the cast of the dramedy Cemetery Junction for Sony Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter. “Cemetery” takes a period look at a group of twenty-something men working at the Prudential insurance company in the 1970’s and their relationships with each other as well as the women in their lives. Goode will play Mike, a go-getter dating his boss’ daughter. Ralph Fiennes, Felicity Jones, Christian Cooke, Tom Hughes, Jack Doolan and Ricky Gervais star.

– Antonio Banderas will star in the neo-noir detective thriller The Big Bang for says Variety.
Banderas stars as an L.A. private detective who’s hired to find a missing stripper. The trail leads to the New Mexico desert. There the private eye finds a trail of bodies and contends with a brutal Russian boxer, three LAPD detectives and an aging billionaire looking to perfect the nuclear physics equivalent of the Big Bang.

– James McTeigue (“V for Vendetta,” “Ninja Assassin”) is tipped to be helming the upcoming Conan the Barbarian reboot film for Nu-Image/Millenium as Brett Ratner has left the project.

Fast and Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan tells MTV News that all the talk of another sequel is not just true, but things are moving quickly. “It seems like there will definitely be another one. I just got out of a lunch with Universal, just pitching the story around. We were figuring out if we do another one, and what it would be. It has to come from the characters, so where are these characters after this film – what are they doing?” says Morgan.

– CBS Films has acquired screen rights to Johanna Stokes’s comic book mini-series Station reports Variety. In the miniseries, five nations have sent their finest astronauts to operate Earth’s first multinational space station, but when one turns up dead, the remaining personnel race against time to discover if it was sabotage, an accident or murder.

– Vin Diesel, director John Singleton and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura are teaming for a film adaptation of the video game The Wheelman for Paramount Pictures reports Variety.
Diesel produced, voiced and had his likeness used in the game about an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past.

Michelle Rodriguez spills some great big spoilers on Avatar and Fast & Furious

Posted by LiveFor on April 4, 2009

Rodriguez plays Trudy Chacon in James Cameron’s Avatar which is a film I can’t wait to see. Everything about it has been kept super top secret and then she has to go and say this over on Latina (it’s in invisotext so you’ll have to drag the mouse over it to read it).

Anytime you’ve got a wild, independent, free-spirited woman, she has to die at the end of the movie, unless it’s a movie that’s so sci-fi that it can’t be real, like Tomb Raider. Me? I die in every film that I’m in this year. They’re just gonna have to keep on killing me. I’ll keep coming back, until they realize what’s hot and make flicks for bitches like me.

Why did you have to go and say that Michelle?
