Repo Men – New posters for the Jude Law sci-fi film

Posted by LiveFor on January 23, 2010

In the futuristic action-thriller Repo Men, humans have extended and improved our lives through highly sophisticated and expensive mechanical organs created by a company called The Union. The dark side of these medical breakthroughs is that if you dont pay your bill, The Union sends its highly skilled repo men to take back its propertywith no concern for your comfort or survival.
Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best organ repo men in the business. When he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the companys top-of-the-line heart-replacementas well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his hearts no longer in the job. When he cant make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remys former partner Jake (Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker), to track him down.
Now that the hunter has become the hunted, Remy joins Beth (Alice Braga), another debtor who teaches him how to vanish from the system. And as he and Jake embark on a chase across a landscape populated by maniacal friends and foes, one man will become a reluctant champion for thousands on the run.

Repo Men – Red Band Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on December 24, 2009

This is the first I have heard of this one. It has nothing to do with the excellent Alex Cox film Repo Man but looks like it could be good.

In the futuristic action-thriller Repo Men, humans have extended and improved our lives through highly sophisticated and expensive mechanical organs created by a company called The Union. The dark side of these medical breakthroughs is that if you don’t pay your bill, The Union sends its highly skilled repo men to take back its property…with no concern for your comfort or survival.

Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best organ repo men in the business. But when he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company’s top-of-the-line heart-replacement…as well as a hefty debt. When he can’t make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy’s former partner Jake (Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker), to track him down.

The Experiment – First look at the prison gone wrong film

Posted by LiveFor on November 6, 2009

experiment-firstlookphotos-full02It was a while back that I first mention Paul Scheuring’s The Experiment. It is a remake of Oliver Hirschbiegels Das Experiment, which centered on a group of ordinary men recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners as part of a research study and examined how the effects of assigned roles, power and control affected the participants. Bloody Disgusting got hold of the first photos from the film.

It’s looking good and doesn’t Forest Whitaker look young.

Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood, Cam Gigandet, Clifton Collins Jr and Maggie Grace

The Expendables – Bootleg Teaser Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on September 14, 2009

Here is a bootleg of the teaser trailer for The Expendables that was shown at Venice Film Festival 2009. Due out on 20th August 2010.

It is quite hard to tell how good or bad the film is going to be as it is difficult to make out what exactly is going on in the bootleg. I just want it to be at least half as good as my mind tells me it should be.

Director and star Sylvester Stallone is joined by Forest Whitaker, Eric Roberts, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lungdren, Mickey Rourke, Charisma Carpenter, Steve Austin, Arnold Scwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.

Thanks to Ian for providing the link to a working version of the bootleg.

Maggie Grace joins Diaz and Cruise in Wichita

Posted by LiveFor on August 28, 2009

maggie-graceMaggie Grace (Lost, Taken) is in negotiations to join Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in Fox’s untitled Wichita project, a spy thriller directed by James Mangold.

The project centers on a lonely woman (Diaz) whose seemingly harmless blind date suddenly turns her life upside-down when a super spy (Cruise) takes her on a violent worldwide journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source….yes that is apparantly the Saturday morning cartoon plot they are using as hokey as it sounds…yes I did just use the word hokey. Let’s move on shall we.

Grace is playing Diaz’s sister, who is getting married, excited that Diaz will take the place of their late father and walk her down the aisle.

Grace has been busy since starring as Liam Neeson’s daughter in “Taken,” which has made more than $224 million worldwide.

She recently wrapped playing the female lead opposite Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker in Sony’s “The Experiment” and is shooting “Flying Lessons.” The indie is being exec produced by Mark Johnson.

The Vanishing on 7th Street gets Darth Vader

Posted by LiveFor on August 27, 2009

street
I first reported on this back in April. Back then Timothy Olyphant and Forest Whitaker where involved but there is no mention of them in this new report.

Hayden Christensen has signed to star and Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo are in negotiations to star in the paranormal thriller Vanishing on Seventh Street for director Brad Anderson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Anderson and Anthony Jaswinski, the story is set in a once-thriving city where shadowy forms cause residents to inexplicably disappear. Five survivors fight to stay alive while grappling with the meaning of existence.

Christensen is playing a reporter. Newton would play a desperate nurse and Leguizamo a subway operator.

Shooting is set to begin mid-October in the once-thriving city of Detroit.

I really like the plot for this one, but it could be a bit naff if not done right. A definite mix of Twilight Zone, His Dark Materials, Phantoms, The Langoliers and more, but it could look very spooky.

However, Hayden Christiansen…I just don’t know about that. Jumper was a bit of a mess and more like a pilot for a TV show than anything else and Anakin just doesn’t seem to have the charisma for a leading man. What are your thoughts on the film and young Darth starring in it?

The amazing photo is by Alexey Titarenko.

Brody, Whitaker, Wood and Gigandet are part of The Experiment

Posted by LiveFor on June 19, 2009

Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood and Cam Gigandet will star in The Experiment, a remake of the German psychological thriller Das Experiment for Inferno Entertainment and Magnet Media Group.

“Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring is directing from his screenplay. Filming begins in Iowa next month.

“Das Experiment,” directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, centered on a group of ordinary men recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners as part of a research study and examined how the effects of assigned roles, power and control affected the participants. Brody will portray the de facto leader of the prisoners while Whitaker will play a guard who’s corrupted by the power he’s given.

It is based on Dr. Philip Zimbardo’s 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment. Scheduled to last for two weeks, the experiment was terminated after six days.

Yet another remake heading our way then!
