Hobo With A Shotgun – Calling Rutger Hauer!

Posted by LiveFor on April 18, 2010

Hobo With A Shotgun was one of the fake trailers made for the Tarantino / Rodriguez Grindhouse project. Machete was another one that is being made into a feature starring Danny Trejo and is due out on 3rd September 2010.

Getting back to Hobo – the trailer was entered into a competition and won to take its place in the Canadian release of Grindhouse.

Jason Eisener begins production on the feature version of Hobo With A Shotgun on Monday.

The best news is that Rutger Hauer will be playing the Hobo. Let him bring on his Hitcher madness for this one.

Below is the fake trailer that started it all.

Machete – Danny Trejo talks sequels and De Niro

Posted by LiveFor on December 21, 2009

Robert Rodriguez’s Machete edges ever closer and Collider spoke to Danny Trejo about what the film was about and what it was like working with Robert De Niro.

Well uh…Machete kicks ass. It is a culmination of Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico…there’s even a little bit of From Dusk ‘Til Dawn in there. I think it’s gonna be one of his best. And I’m not just saying that cause I’m the lead, it’s just a great movie. I think everybody’s gonna walk away from that movie with some opinion. It’s a battle for our border, you know? People are really serious about what’s going on with the border, and it shows the negative side of both sides. Not just, we want everybody to cross or we don’t want anybody to cross. It shows the negative side of both sides. Everybody’s gonna be pissed off.

Get a bag of popcorn and just sit and watch and you go back to the 1960s.

When I first saw Robert De Niro on the set, he came up and his first words to me were, “Don’t leave me like this, homes.” You know, that was my line in Heat. And I kind of laughed and he said, “Man, Danny, I’m really proud of you. You’re the lead. This is it, this is you.” And I looked him right in the eyes and I said, “Can I get you some coffee, Mr. De Niro?” [Laughter] You know, cause that’s the guy. I couldn’t believe that Robert got De Niro. And then Jessica Alba, you know? And Lindsay Lohan. And Michelle Rodriguez, and Jeff Fahey, and Steven Seagal, and Cheech Marin. It just goes on and on. It was really hard like not just giggling, you know? I mean, when you’re working, just not giggling. You know, come on, grow up. But it was amazing, and that cast was amazing.

We want Machete, Machete Kills, and Machete Kills Again. [Laughter] That’s mine and Robert’s standards, you know? Every time I text him, he’ll text me back, Machete 2, coming up. [Laughs]

Below is the fake trailer from Grindhouse that started it all.

Harvey Keitel is one of the Cut Throats Nine

Posted by LiveFor on October 30, 2009

cutthroatsnineRodrigo Gudiño (Rue Morgue Magazine, The Facts In the Case of Mister Hollow) is to direct his first feature, Cut Throats Nine.

STYD have the news that Rue Morgue Cinema are behind the remake of the 1972 Spanish/Italian grindhouse western Condenados a vivir. Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction, Smoke, Bad Lieutenant, From Dusk Till Dawn and so much more), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Valhalla Rising) and Roy Dupuis (La Femme Nikita).

Cut Throats Nine follows a wagonload of convicts as they travel the northern mountains to carry out their death sentences. Following a surprise attack from a gang of bandits, only the sergeant, his beautiful young daughter and seven of the most sadistic, murderous men alive survive the assault.

Cut Throats Nine is described as a “crowd-pleasing experience that pushes the relatively subdued excesses of both the western and the horror movie into creative new territory.” Now that sounds like my kind of movie.

Great cast, cool story with a grindhouse history to it. Sounds very good indeed. Has a touch of Inglourious Basterds, but sounds as if we would actually see the nastiness they commit in this film. Who else would you like to see in the film playing the rest of the nine?

Danny Trejo says Machete is about to be unleashed

Posted by LiveFor on June 15, 2009

We all knew Machete was one of the few trailers from the Tarantino / Rodriguez Grindhouse projects that was going to eventually see the light of day as a full length feature.

Well it looks like it may be with us a lot sooner than we thought.

Gordon & The Whale spoke with Machete himself, Danny Trejo, and he told them he had spoken to Rodriguez yesterday and was told they would begin shooting in 5 weeks.

This is excellent news as the trailer was brilliant and we should get some old school action.

Trejo also said he was not going to be in Stallone’s The Expendables as a few rumours had previously mentioned.

Trejo is a great actor and it will be good to finally see him in a proper leading role.

Below is the Machete trailer from Grindhouse that started it all.

UPDATED: Nicolas Cage’s greatest acting role ever

Posted by LiveFor on May 18, 2009

Thanks to krajczynski for sending me the link.

I must also point out that it is only now I realised I had always spelt Cage’s first name as Nicholas when it should be spelt Nicolas. Sorry about that.

I wonder what he thinks of Tetro?

UPDATE: Looks like I was wrong. Maw commented on the original post and pointed out this little gem. Something that I’d never heard of. Be prepared for Cage’s greatest acting role ever!
