Law Abiding Citizen / Team Fortress mashup

Posted by LiveFor on April 5, 2010

An amazing piece of work here. They’ve taken the Engineer from Team Fortress and put him in place of Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen. Which one do you prefer?

Gordon Freeman if designed today

Posted by LiveFor on February 25, 2009

The artist Tom Rhodes has been a busy bee redrawing lots of old school video game characters. He has done Earthworm Jim, Duke Nukem and many more. My favourite is Gordan Freeman above. Check out Tom’s site as he’s got many more cool pictures there.

Gordon Freeman. I’ve noticed a lot of nerd artists tend to draw G-Dawg here as this brave, heroic, smirking bad ass crushing alien faces with a crow-bar, but if there’s anything my life has taught me, it’s that nerds are wimps and cowards, and the way the first Half-Life game was played was far from bad ass action hero. It was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants game of ammo-management, with really suspenseful silent parts, and frantic action parts.

Half Life 2: Escape from City 17 – Fan film

Posted by LiveFor on February 14, 2009

Directed by The Purchase Brothers.

The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.

Real Life Portal Gun

Posted by LiveFor on January 22, 2009

I know, I know. It’s not from a film, it’s from a video game but it is just so cool. Someone made the gun from Portal (spin off from Half Life 2) and it is truly a thing of beauty. Gizmodo have another pic of it.< Developed by Aperture Science, this Handheld Portal Device is an extremely limited edition (dare I say, one of a kind?) portal generator. Illuminated with blue and orange LEDs, the entire gun runs off of only one 9V battery and needs no ammunition.
