The Karate Kid – Trailer for the Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith remake- Wipe on, switch off?

Posted by LiveFor on December 22, 2009

Set in an exotic Asian locale, the new film will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan).

Please share your thoughts on that.

The Karate Kid – New photos

Posted by LiveFor on December 1, 2009

Gaze in wonder at Jaden Smith (son of Will) and the once great Jackie Chan training on the Great Wall of China with no tourists in site.

Why on Earth does Jackie keep making stuff like this and The Spy Next Door? He should be making new, cool, films full of amazing stunts or maybe directing.

The film is out in June next year.

The Spy Next Door – Just when you thought Jackie Chan could fall no further

Posted by LiveFor on October 17, 2009

spy-next-door-poster
Someone tell me this is a joke…quick search of the internet later…it is no joke.

Dreadful concept, dreadful poster. Did they go to the people who cannot photoshop to do this? What’s going on with Jackie’s leg? Why is he holding a laser pointer? Why are they all standing on a roof? Why is Jackie holding aloft a grappling hook when they are already on the roof? Has Jackie just crapped out a radioactive golden glowing turd after realising he was actually in this? Why has this one poster caused me to ask so many questions?

Who would have thought we would one day see the names Jackie Chan and Billy Ray Cyrus on the same poster.

Why Jackie Why?

For those who care Brian Levant (Jingle All the Way, Snow Dogs, Are We There Yet?) directed it and you can go and submit yourself to the pain on 15th January 2010.

I was going to post the trailer as well, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it so here is some classic Chan. I swear we must have got the evil Mirror version of Jackie Chan at some point who makes naff movies.

Look out it is the Karate Kid…I mean The Kung-Fu Kid…here’s Jackie Chan and Will Smith’s kid

Posted by LiveFor on September 17, 2009

kung fu kidNo, no. I am not saying he is the child of Jackie Chan and Will Smith. Oh the fickleness of grammar.

This is the remake of the classic Karate Kid, but this one is called The Kung Fu Kid. Do you see what they did there? Clever isn’t it.

The new film stars Jackie “never as good as he used to be” Chan and Jaden “I was the sullen kid in The Day The Earth Stood Still” Smith.

Jaden Smith plays Dre who is forced to move to China after his single mother (Taraji P. Henson) is forced to transfer to the China for work. Unable to speak Chinese, Dre finds it hard to settle in, and gets beaten up by the local bully. Jackie Chan plays Mr. Han, a maintenance man who spots Dre’s black-eye and offers to teach him both martial arts and Chinese, so he can defend against the students of Li Quan Ha’s Fighting dragon school of Kung-Fu.

There you have it. Any kind of caption you have for the photo above would be much appreciated.

Karate Kid…Kung Fu Kid – It’s filming, it will suck

Posted by LiveFor on July 14, 2009

The Will Smith-produced remake of the 1984 family hit The Karate Kid has scored the official title of Kung Fu Kid according to The Associated Press.

Filming kicked off on Saturday in Beijing on the co-production between the state-run China Film Group and Columbia Pictures.

‘Kid’ stars Jaden Smith as the titular student and Jackie Chan as the wise kung-fu master. Harald Zwart (“Pink Panther 2”) directs.

Producer Ken Stovitz confirmed the story will be set in modern-day Beijing and filming will continue for three months.

Posting this was as painful as having to read it. It’s going to be so bad isn’t it. Directed by the man who brought us Pink Panther 2.

The Karate Kid is Dead. Long Live the Kung-Fu Kid.

Posted by LiveFor on March 30, 2009

Don’t worry Ralph Macchio is still alive and kicking. This is all about the proposed remake of the original 1984 classic that so many of us grew up with. Jaden Smith (Will’s kid) is down as the kid and Jackie Chan is going to be Mr Miyagi. Plus the action has moved to Beijing. That is all old news of course.

Jackie Chan has let slip that this remake is actually going to be called Kung Fu Kid, not Karate Kid.

“They don’t want to call it Karate Kid any more,” Chan said. “They want to call it The Kung Fu Kid.” He quickly changed topics and unfortunately didn’t add any more about as to why this change was being made.

I just can’t get any excitement going for this remake. All the sequels were just remakes of the original idea anyway. What do you think of the rename?

Shinjuku Incident – Jackie Chan vs The Yakuza. Is this a return to old school Chan?

Posted by LiveFor on March 9, 2009

Here is the trailer for Shinjuku Incident. Jackie Chan stars as a Chinese refugee who ends up in Tokyo and gets embroiled in the local Yakuza gang culture.

Directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Yee Tung-Shing (Full Throttle, Lost in Time, One Nite in Mongkok, Protégé). The screenplay was co-written by Yee Tung-Shing and Chun Tin Nam (Crime Story, Seven Swords, The Warlords, and An Empress and the Warriors).

What do you reckon? Are we seeing the Jackie Chan we all loved before he started doing the watered down Hollywood films?
