The Walking Dead – Casting for the Zombie TV series may have Apollo, Lucifer or Dorian Gray

Posted by LiveFor on February 16, 2010

Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead is the ultimate zombie story. A great comic that has the simple idea of following survivors or a zombie apocalypse after the film has finished. I’ve been following the transition of the comic book to the small screen quite closely. Frank Darabont is at the helm of the TV show so all well and good.

Until now there have been no word on who would be starring in the show, in particular the main character Rick Grimes.

Now Big Shiny Robot have word on three possibles.

The first is Jamie Bamber – He was Apollo in Battlestar Galactica and is currently on TV over here in England in the UK version of Law and Order. He’s a Brit in case you didn’t know. I was surprised when I found out a couple of years ago. I really like him and think he would be good in the part, although it isn’t the definite “Hell yes” reaction I was hoping to have.

Next up is Mark Pellegrino who has been in Dexter, he is Jacob in Lost and is currently playing Lucifer’s host in Supernatural. I haven’t seen him in action so can’t really comment although I have heard good things from people in the know.

The last of the casting trio is another Brit, Stuart Townsend. He was going to be Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings, but got recast. He was going to be one of the Warriors Three in the Thor movie, but was recast. He was in the Nightstalker TV show reboot that got cancelled and he played Dorian Gray in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I think that is all the needs be said about Mr Townsend.

Out of those three I’d have to stick with Bamber (but that could change after seeing some of Pellegrino’s work). Which of the three do you like the most? If not them who else could play Rick?

Other people who could fit are Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) and possibly Nathan Fillion.

Posted by LiveFor on April 29, 2009

Great news for Battlestar Galactica fans (although it is a little out of my price range). Not sure on the packaging for the complete series though. Surely they could have done something better.

Universal Home Video has announced DVD ($49.98) and Blu-ray ($69.98) releases of Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.5 for the 28th July. Each will include commentaries by Ronald D. Moore, David Eick, and Edward James Olmos, Ronald D. Moore’s Podcast Commentaries, David Eick’s Video Blogs, deleted scenes, and featurettes (“Evolution of a Cue”, “The Journey Ends: The Arrival”, “So Say We All”, “Manifesto Destiny”, “Battle-Style Galactica”, “Martyr To A Cause”, “The Sins of The Forgiven”, “Battlestar Revelations”). The Blu-ray release will also include additional U-Control and BD-Live functions.

Also available from the 28th July will be DVD ($279.98) and Blu-ray ($349.98) releases of Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series. Could Chekov be the next Green Lantern?

Posted by LiveFor on February 27, 2009

MTV have some interesting news on a possible Green Lantern.

Star Trek” actor Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett, Star Trek) is rumored to be the front-runner to play DC’s Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, after Ryan Gosling (“The Notebook”) and Emile Hersch (“Speed Racer”) passed on the role.

According to anonymous sources at Latino Review, the “Green Lantern” producers are looking for a young star, but also someone familiar. The site named Yelchin, who plays Kyle Reese in the upcoming “Terminator: Salvation” and a young Pavel Chekov in the upcoming “Star Trek” film, as a potential candidate after Gosling, Hersch and upcoming “Clash of the Titans” actor Sam Worthington passed.

As one might expect, there’s some disagreement in the online world regarding the best candidate for the role of DC’s popular ring-bearer, with favorite actor of Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, and “Battlestar Galactica” star Jamie Bamber also popping up as potential stars. “Mad Men” actor Jon Hamm has also been mentioned as a worthy candidate to take up the role of Jordan

Hmm, not sure about this bit of news. He seems awfully young to play Hal. Not really watched him in anything though. What are your thoughts on it. If he is cast would he make a good Hal Jordan?
