The Losers – New photo looks very like the comic book

Posted by LiveFor on February 1, 2010

The trailer debuted a couple of days ago and now director Sylvian White was chatting to The LA Times and the piece includes the photo above. The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, Jason Patric, Zoe Saldana, Oscar Jaenada and Holt McCallany.

If it looks familiar it is because of the artwork by Jock for Andy Diggle’s comic.

END OF UPDATE

This is the first look at some footage for the adaption of the Andy Diggle and Jock comic book, The Losers. It is one of those EW teaser of a teaser trailer thing they do.

Directed by Sylvian White the film adaptation stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (last seen in the comic book world as The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen), Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Oscar Jaenada, Jason Patric, and Peter Macdissi.

An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, “The Losers” centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team–Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar–find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

The photo of the team at the top fills me full of hope for this one as it is pretty much how the team looks in the comic.

Oscar Jaenada has joined The Losers

Posted by LiveFor on May 21, 2009

Some more casting news for the adaption of Andy Diggle and Jock’s brilliant comic, The Losers.

Blackfilm.com have the news Oscar Jaenada (The Limits of Control, Che: Part Two) has got the role of Cougar.

Directing the film is Sylvain White. He directed Stomp The Yard and is due to direct Frank Miller’s Ronin and Castlevania.

Losers centers around a Special Forces team, who are set up and betrayed by their enigmatic handler, Max, who soon discovers that you should never leave a bunch of black-ops commandos for dead. The Losers regroup for revenge, and to get their names off a pesky CIA death list. For issue after issue, they conducted covert operations against the CIA, and sought to uncover the plans and conspiracies of the powerful, secretive Max.

Previously I’ve mentioned the casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, Supernatural) as the leader Clay, Idris Elba (Ultraviolet, Obsessed) is his second-in-command Roque, Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Push) as Jensen, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) is Aisha, and Columbus Short as Pooch.

Blackfilm also confirm the news that Jason Patric will be playing the role of the big bad Max.

It’s all coming together for this film and if it stays true to the comic it should have some amazing action scenes.

Will Keanu be back for The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down 3

Posted by LiveFor on December 2, 2008

“I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around the city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, the bus would explode! I think it was called “The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down.” – Homer Simpson.

AICN have a source who has confirmed that a script for Speed 3 is floating around Hollywood. Not only that, but the story features the return of Officer Jack Traven, the lead character played by Keanu Reeves in the original film. Speed 2: Cruise Control had Jason Patric as a different character for the lead, but both features Sandra Bullock.

The weird thing is that back in 2007, Dennis Hopper told The Guardian that he was set to reprise his role as Howard Payne in a third Speed film. This always seemed a bit odd as Payne died at the end of the first Speed film.

All still early days for this rumour and I think it is doubtful that Keanu will return to the franchise. He’s riding high with The Day the Earth Stood Still and a Chef type movie with David Fincher in the works.

Would you like to see Keanu back in a new Speed movie? Let’s hear your theories as to what would be speeding now and how they could bring Dennis Hopper’s character back (maybe in a Saw style with videos he made back in the day – they could carefully edit footage of Hopper from many of his earlier films. That would be cool).
