The Crazies – Clip – Where’s Dad?

Posted by LiveFor on February 11, 2010

Imagine living in a small town where everything is safe and happyuntil suddenly it isnt. Imagine your friends and neighbors going quickly and horrifically insane. In a terrifying tale of the American Dream gone horribly wrong, four friends find themselves trapped in their hometown in The Crazies, a reinvention of the George Romero classic directed by Breck Eisner

David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own houseafter locking his wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with guns and knives. Sheriff Dutten tries to make sense of whats happening as the horrific, nonsensical violence escalates. Something is infecting the citizens of Ogden Marshwith insanity.

Now complete anarchy reigns as one by one the townsfolk succumb to an unknown toxin and turn sadistically violent. In an effort to keep the madness contained, the government uses deadly force to close off all access and wont let anyone in or out even those uninfected. The few still sane find themselves trapped: Sheriff Dutten; his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Duttens deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get out of town alive.

Due out on 26th February.

High Life – Poster and trailer for Timothy Olyphant’s heist type film

Posted by LiveFor on January 15, 2010

Adapted from Lee MacDougal’s play, “High Life” features Timothy Olyphant as Dick, a hapless loser who along with drug-addict pals Billy (Rossif Sutherland), Bug (Stephen Eric McIntyre) and Donnie (Joe Anderson) tries to pull off a daring ATM heist.

Initially set in the present-day, director Gary Yates changed the setting to 1983 to help the believability factor.

“I just didn’t believe they could do it in modern times,” he says. “There are too many cameras to pull off an ATM scam. So I thought, ‘What if I set it when ATMs first came out?’ Then I could make these guys classic ’70s rock holdovers. They don’t belong in the ’80s; the ’80s is the give-it-to-me now generation.”

“It made sense to have a story about a machine in a wall that spits out cash,” Sutherland adds. “Trying to do a heist picture today would have to include something about frauds over the web and we,” he said, looking at co-star McIntyre with a wry grin, “don’t have a mind for that.”

“Part of the magic for my character,” McIntyre says, “is having him come out of jail and seeing all these new inventions.”

Yates’ crisp dialogue appealed to Olyphant, who was hot off supporting turns in “Live Free or Die Hard” and HBO’s “Deadwood” when he agreed to star in the indie feature.

“The script was fantastic and the characters were great,” he says. “It’s not very often that you get that kind of writing.

“As opposed to the challenges for a big, stupid movie where the task is, ‘How do I do this and not look like an a—hole?’ This is a piece of cake.”

Panabaker is one of The Crazies

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th, Mr Brooks, Sky High, Shark) and Joe Anderson (Across the Universe, The Ruins) have joined Timothy Olyphant (TV’s “Damages,” Hitman, Deadwood) and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, Pitch Black) in Overture Films’ The Crazies, a reinvention loosely based upon the George Romero cult classic. The film is set to begin principal photography in Georgia on March 5th with additional shooting to occur in Iowa.

Panabaker will play Becca, a receptionist at the town’s medical center where Mitchell is a doctor.

Anderson will play the role of the town’s deputy, with Olyphant playing the sheriff.

Breck Eisner is set to direct the screenplay about the inhabitants of a small Kansas town beset by insanity and then death after a mysterious toxin contaminates their water supply. The film is written by Ray Wright, from an earlier draft by Scott Kosar.
