Secretariat – Trailer for a horse film that isn’t Seabiscuit in any way shape or form

Posted by LiveFor on April 30, 2010

Based on the remarkable true story, Secretariat chronicles the spectacular journey of the 1973 Triple Crown winner. Housewife and mother Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) agrees to take over her ailing father’s Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge. Against all odds, Chenery–with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich)–manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and what may be the greatest racehorse of all time.

Jonah Hex – Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on April 29, 2010

This trailer has its moments but seems to be a bit all over the place. Hex is a great character yet I’m not sure whether the film will do him justice. I could be wrong although I do get a whiff of Wild, Wild West about it. We shall have to wait and see.

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone…and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Based on the legendary graphic novel, “Jonah Hex” is an epic adventure thriller about one man’s personal quest for redemption against the vast canvas of the battle between good and evil.

Transformers 3 – New Decepticon spotted

Posted by LiveFor on April 2, 2010

Recently there was some news on the cast for Michael Bay’s third Transformers film. It also mentioned a new Autobot in the shape of a Ferrari.

The Realm Toys had news from a studio mole who spotted a new Dodge Charger sporting a certain Decepticon badge. The Mole said:

I was doing my normal rounds on the lot and came across the Transformers 3 work. The main Transformers cars are all there including 2 that I didn’t see in the previous movies. One is a autobot that I couldn’t get close enough to take a picture of because it was being guarded so that it would not be scratched/ damaged. It was a red Ferrari. The other (which wasn’t being guarded as heavily) is a decepticon. It was a dark navy Dodge Charger. I managed to snap a couple of pics with my cell. Sorry for the poor quality.

So far the cast for the new film consists of Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, James Avery and is due out on 1st July 2011

Transformers 3 – Malkovich and Frances McDormand join the cast

Posted by LiveFor on March 23, 2010

Looks as if the third Transformers film will have to up the quality of the script as they’ve got a couple of great actors joining the cast. Plus they’ll have a new Autobot in the shape of a Ferrari.

Here is Michael Bay’s announcement:

Transformers 3 Update From Michael Bay
03/22/2010 06:40 AM
Hey, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted. Just been a little busy.

Transformers 3 has been going very well. We are going to shoot in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I’ve always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from “Hangover” and the Doctor from “Knocked Up.”

We start shooting pre-shoots in about one month.

I also was at a Ferrari charity event this week raising money for a hospital being built by Ferrari in Haiti. I announced that night the newest Autobot to join Transformers: the Ferrari 458 Italia.

I also want to thank everyone on this site that donated to the Make -A-Wish charity. We raised $20,000 which I will personally be matching. This is a great charity where they make wishes come true for kids who are very ill. We have had many Kids from Make-A-Wish visit us on our Transformers sets and this time we will be posting video of they’re visits on Transformers 3.

Michael Bay

How do you feel about Malkovich and McDormand joining the crew? Any people who hate Transformers but who’ll now give it a watch because of their involvment?

Red – First photos of Willis in the adaption of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner comic

Posted by LiveFor on January 22, 2010

Red started shooting earlier this week in Toronto, and now the first photos from the set of Robert Schwentke’s film based on the Wildstorm comic have got onto the web and MTV found them over on The HSX Dude.

The photos show Bruce Willis and Mary-Louise Parker, and show how the adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s miniseries will look when it arrives on screen on 22nd October. The comic followed a former black-ops CIA agent forced out of retirement to stop a high-tech assassin and discover who ordered his assassination.

Previously, Schwentke told MTV News the film would be a “funny” take on the dark thriller. Ellis has since offered up his thoughts on why the changes were necessary. Helen Mirren with a sniper rifle was a big part of that!

Along with Willis and Parker the film also stars John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, James Remar, Helen Mirren, Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgine, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox.

What do you think of the photos? Lots of hats for Willis by the look of it.

Warren Ellis’ Red begins shooting…with cameras

Posted by LiveFor on January 19, 2010

Principal photography has begun in Toronto on Summit Entertainment’s spy-thriller “Red,” based on the DC Comics graphic novel of the same name by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.

Joining previously announced stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker and Academy Award®-winners Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, are two-time Academy Award®-nominee John Malkovich, Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Academy Award®-winners Richard Dreyfuss and Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon.

“Red” is the story of Frank Moses (Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life. That is, until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah (Parker), endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Freeman, Malkovich and Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive.

Directed by Robert Schwentke (”The Time Traveler’s Wife,” “Flightplan”) from a screenplay by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber (”Whiteout”), the film is produced by di Bonaventura Pictures’ Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian (”Salt,” “Transformers,” “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”). Executive producers are Jake Myers (”Shanghai,” “Hollywoodland”) and Gregory Noveck (”Jonah Hex”). Di Bonaventura Pictures’ production executive David Ready serves as co-producer.

“I’m so excited at the phenomenal cast that Robert and our script have attracted,” said di Boneventura. “I think audiences are going to have a great time.”

Summit’s President of Production Erik Feig said, “RED is that classic project with a little bit of something for everyone. We are thrilled to see it come to vivid life with an outstanding cast, incredibly talented director, and top notch producing team. It’s gonna be a good one!””

“Red” will film in and around the Toronto metropolitan area for nine weeks before moving on to the road and ending in New Orleans in late March for the final two weeks of principal photography. The film is scheduled for worldwide release on October 22, 2010.

John Malkovich joins Warren Ellis’ Red and confirms he may be the Vulture in Spider-Man 4

Posted by LiveFor on January 11, 2010

John Malkovich has signed to star opposite Bruce Willis in Red, Summit’s all-star adaptation of the Wildstorm/DC Comics Warren Ellis miniseries being directed by Robert Schwenke according to THR.

Malkovich is stepping in for John C. Reilly, who exited the role in late December.

“Red” is the tale of a retired black-ops agent (Willis) who must contend with younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him.

The part will allow Malkovich to exercise his comic sensibilities as he plays retired a CIA agent, a contemporary of Willis’, who is erratic and paranoid that everyone is out to kill him and joins Willis in is quest to find out who wants them dead.

Malkovich joins the killer cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Julian McMahon, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine and Brian Cox.

Principal photography begins this week in Toronto.

BadTaste.it is reporting that John Malkovich is still in the running to play The Vulture in Spider-Man 4.

“When conductor Simona Ventura asked him about his role of Vulture in the movie, he not only didn’t deny his involvement, but confirmed that he’s waiting for the final script to be sent to him, and that the movie has been delayed. He also hopes that shooting will begin as soon as possible.”

Malkovich in two comic book movies? What are the chances. The Spidey one could still change as last we heard Sam Raimi was in serious discussions with the studio over the script and villains for the sequel.

Spider-Man 4 delayed due to arguments over the villain

Posted by LiveFor on January 6, 2010

There was mention a while back that John Malkovich could be down to play the Vulture in Sam Raimi’s next installment of your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

According to THR Sony and Sam Raimi are at loggerheads over which direction to go with the villains for the latest installment. An impasse which has prompted the studio to delay its scheduled spring production start and potentially to bump the film from its 11th May 2011 release slot.

Raimi wants to have the Vulture act as the primary antagonist in the film while the studio, which dislikes the idea of the winged wrongdoer, is pushing for a romantic sub-plot involving a burglar named the Black Cat in addition to another villain. At the very least this seems to have got rid of the dreadfully named Vulturess.

This argument goes back to the awful Spider-Man 3 when Raimi wanted to use the Vulture, but the studio pushed for Venom and that was a waste of a good character.

I’m with Raimi on this one. A single villain would be great as, with many comic book movies, having more than one bad guy dilutes their menace and time to develop them. If we can’t have the Lizard then I am happy to see a cool take on the Vulture and they could just set up the basics for Black Cat for a future film.

Do you want one bad guy in the next Spidey film?
