Inception – New Escher style poster

Posted by LiveFor on May 7, 2010

Here is another cool poster for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Can’t wait to see it, but I just hope it doesn’t all end up being a dream of Leonardo DiCaprio.

A new trailer is also due out with Iron Man 2 so let me know if you see it and what it shows.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible–inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.

Inception – Finally a full plot synopsis

Posted by LiveFor on May 5, 2010

Christopher Nolan’s new one has been shrouded in secrecy. We knew it had something to do with people going into dreams and stealing ideas (kind of like that old Dennis Quaid film with the snake monster), but now there is an offical synopsis for the film.

INCEPTION

(Warner Bros. Pictures/Legendary Pictures)

Director: Christopher Nolan

Writer: Christopher Nolan

Producers: Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan

Executive Producer: Chris Brigham, Thomas Tull

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Michael Caine

Sci-Fi Action. Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams.

This movie has been rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action throughout.

Inception – Christopher Nolan talks about the mysterious sci-fi film

Posted by LiveFor on April 6, 2010

Speaking to the LA Times Christopher Nolan has shed some light on the mysterious film, Inception. We have had some intriguing trailers yet not much else is known about it the globe trotting sci-fi adventure.

The follows Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb: “a specialist in the new branch of corporate espionage — he’s a dream thief who plucks secrets from the minds of tycoons after pumping them full of drugs and hooking them up to a mysterious contraption (pic above).”

This is something Nolan has been working on for a while.

“I wanted to do this for a very long time, it’s something I’ve thought about off and on since I was about 16. I wrote the first draft of this script seven or eight years ago, but it goes back much further, this idea of approaching dream and the dream life as another state of reality.”

“[In a dream] you can look around and examine the details and pick up a handful of sand on the beach. I never particularly found a limit to that; that is to say, that while in that state your brain can fill in all that reality. I tried to work that idea of manipulation and management of a conscious dream being a skill that these people have. Really the script is based on those common, very basic experiences and concepts, and where can those take you? And the only outlandish idea that the film presents, really, is the existence of a technology that allows you to enter and share the same dream as someone else.”

“I originally wrote it as a heist movie, and heist movies traditionally are very deliberately superficial in emotional terms,” Nolan said. “They’re frivolous and glamorous, and there’s a sort of gloss and fun to it. I originally tried to write it that way, but when I came back to it I realized that — to me — that didn’t work for a film that relies so heavily on the idea of the interior state, the idea of dream and memory. I realized I needed to raise the emotional stakes. What we found in working on ‘Batman’ is that it’s the emotionalism that best connects the audience with the material. The character issues, those are the things that pull the audience through it and amplify the experience no matter how strange things get.”

“Think of film noir and if you picture the story as a maze, you don’t want to be hanging above the maze watching the characters make the wrong choices because it’s frustrating. You actually want to be in the maze with them, making the turns at their side, that keeps it more exciting… I quite like to be in that maze.”

All sounds very cool and still very mysterious. Can’t wait to see it.

The Random – Ant-Man, DiCaprio maybe Hoover and Travis McGee, Joss Whedon on The Avengers, Harold & Kumar 3, Soderbergh’s Contagion

Posted by LiveFor on April 1, 2010

It is April 1st so it may be possible one or two of these tales have fooled me.

– Edgar Wright and Pixar may be teaming up to bring Marvel’s miniscule Avenger, Ant-Man, to the big screen according to JoBlo.

– Leonardo DiCaprio may play J Edgar Hoover in Spielberg’s biopic of the FBI chief. The actor is also in talks to play Travis McGee, the detective beach bum, in an adaption of John D MacDonalds book, The Deep Blue GoodBye. Oliver Stone is down to direct.

– Joss Whedon (Buffy, Dollhouse, Firefly) may be on the shortlist to direct The Avengers movie. Shiny! That would be very cool. First Showing have more.

– Kal Penn may be back for the third Harold and Kumar film – A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. Apparently his job at the White House is almost at an end.

The Playlist have had a look at the script for Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion.- – ”…if you took the breadth and scope of “Traffic” or “Syriana,” tidied up the writing, and found a subject matter that terrified you relentlessly for two hours, you’d have something close to Contagion…clearly done an enormous amount of research, and it’s thoroughly, horrifyingly conceivable throughout, but it’s also as much about the way that information can spread virally in the Web 2.0 age, as it is about the spread of the virus. Burns ties these dual themes together in the final pages, the two dovetailing in a hugely satisfying way.”

UPDATED: Inception – Teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film

UPDATE: The trailer has now been officially released in much better quality.

I posted the description of the trailer just the other day but here is a bootleg copy of the official trailer. Pam sent me this photo of the cast list with their characters names.

Watch this quick before it gets taken down. Inception is a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind. Wasn’t there an architect in The Matrix? Just saying.

What did you make of that?

Inception – Trailer description of Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film

Posted by LiveFor on August 20, 2009

leonardodicaprio_christophernolan
Inception – The mysterious science fiction film of Christopher Nolan. Not much is known about it and no-one is talking.

However, a brief synopsis says it is about entering peoples’ minds/dreams. A technology to do so has been developed and is done through an injection. Leonardo DiCaprio and his team work to enter the minds of other characters in order to retrieve/plant information.

The trailer is due out soon and the good folks over at /film have tracked down a description of it which may help or confuse the matter.

Now, I wont give much away because it was a pretty good teaser trailer. It got you wanting more. Their is actual footage of the movie, with Leo and others. Their is One fight scene in what looks to be in a hotel hallway, but not just any fight scene. They were fighting all over the hallway, on side walls, ceilings everywhere. I thought Matrix (Don’t panic it’s not the matrix but thats what I came up with) Its gonna be a trippy movie. The end music kind of reminded me of Terminator, not the theme music but u will know what I’m talking about. Its only like a minute long and you will want to watch again to see what you just saw. All in all, it was really good.

It starts with the Warner Bros Logo in grey. Then you see Chris Nolan name. This dradle like thing is spinning around. Director of The Dark Knight words. You see Leo’s face. Over shot of a city, shaking camera shot. Words come on screen “YOUR MIND”. Shot of Leo. More words “IS THE SCENE OF THE CRIME” Then you see a glass of water, with the water in the glass startes to tilt. People fighting in hallway. Gordon-Levitt is one of the guys that’s fighting in the Hallway, on the ceiling and walls. You see a quick shot of his face. The word “INCEPTION” comes up. Then SUMMER 2010.

It is all very intriguing isn’t it. Sounds like a mix of that old Dennis Quaid film (the one where they enter peoples dreams and there is a snake monster in it), The Matrix, Cypher and lashings of Philip K Dick.

The film also stars Marion Cotillard (Public Enemies), Ellen Page (Juno, Whip It!) as Ariadne, Joseph Gordon Levitt (Brick, 500 Days of Summer) as Arthur, Tom Hardy (Bronson) as Eames, Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, The Dark Knight) as Saito, Dileep Rao as Yusef, Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, The Dark Knight) as Fischer, Tom Berenger (Platoon, Sniper) as Browning. Oh and Michael Caine.
