Against the Current – Trailer for Joseph Fiennes and Mary Tyler Moore’s swimming film

Posted by LiveFor on February 8, 2010

Against the Current is the story of Paul Thompson, (Joseph Fiennes), a man who sets out to swim the entire length of the Hudson River — all 150 miles, from Troy, NY to Manhattan. Joining Paul is his best friend since childhood, Jeff (Justin Kirk) and Liz (Elizabeth Reaser), a teacher with nothing better to do during her summer break. Together, the trio embarks upon an unusual road trip, a three-week adventure down the Hudson.

Adamant that they reach New York City by August 28, Paul keeps everyone on a tight schedule. Rain or shine, he swims, while his friends ride alongside in a boat, stopping each night to camp along the river’s edge. However, the journey soon takes a troubling turn when Paul reveals that there is more to this adventure than Jeff and Liz originally thought. Paul, who is still grieving a tragic loss, feels that after he completes this swim he will truly have nothing left to live for.

Realizing that the only way to help Paul is to continue with the swim, Jeff and Liz agree to stay on. And so with each passing stroke, a gallows humor settles over the three as they find themselves debating the finer points of jelly donuts, sex, and death. As the jokes and one-liners mix with deeper exchanges, the journey down river becomes a battle not only to save a friend, but to also discover what it is they ultimately seek inside themselves.

Cop Out – Trailer for Kevin Smith’s new one

Posted by LiveFor on December 31, 2009

This is the trailer for the film that used to be called A Couple of Dicks. The studio got cold feet about that so now it is called Cop Out. Personally, I think that is a bit of a cop out…ah I see what they did there!

Looks like it could be fun and good to see Smith getting to direct more big names after Zack & Miri Makes a Porno (that was a great film). Smith didn’t write this one though, that honour goes to Rob Cullen.

Two longtime NYPD partners on the trail of a stolen, rare, mint-condition baseball card find themselves up against a merciless, memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Jimmy (Bruce Willis) is the veteran detective whose missing collectible is his only hope to pay for his daughter’s upcoming wedding, and Paul (Tracy Morgan) is his “partner-against-crime” whose preoccupation with his wife’s alleged infidelity makes it hard for him to keep his eye on the ball.

The film also stars Seann William Scott, Adam Brody and Michelle Trachtenberg.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The film is out on 6th February 2010.

By the way if anyone knows Street Pete can you ask him why Bruce Willis looks so much like him.

17 Again – International Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on February 26, 2009

What would you do if you got a second shot at life? Class of 1989, Mike O’Donnell is a star on his high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlett and the baby he just learned they are expecting.

Almost 20 years later, Mike’s glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart, he has been passed over for a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned.

But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but his thirtysomething outlook is totally uncool in the class of 2009. And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him.

Directed by Burr Steers. Starring Zac Efron, Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon, Matthew Perry, Michelle Trachtenberg.
