Serenity – Wash gets his own back in funny Web Comic

Posted by LiveFor on April 20, 2010

I love it. Sorry for any potential spoilers you may infer from this cool web comic, but I had to share it. Cartoonist Mike Russell, writer Mark Bourne and inker/colorist Bill Mudron are responsible for this take on Joss Whedon’s Firefly feature film Serenity.

I still really miss Firefly. Still mad that Zac Efron played a young Simon Tam in the series (check out the video below).

The Walking Dead – Casting for the Zombie TV series may have Apollo, Lucifer or Dorian Gray

Posted by LiveFor on February 16, 2010

Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead is the ultimate zombie story. A great comic that has the simple idea of following survivors or a zombie apocalypse after the film has finished. I’ve been following the transition of the comic book to the small screen quite closely. Frank Darabont is at the helm of the TV show so all well and good.

Until now there have been no word on who would be starring in the show, in particular the main character Rick Grimes.

Now Big Shiny Robot have word on three possibles.

The first is Jamie Bamber – He was Apollo in Battlestar Galactica and is currently on TV over here in England in the UK version of Law and Order. He’s a Brit in case you didn’t know. I was surprised when I found out a couple of years ago. I really like him and think he would be good in the part, although it isn’t the definite “Hell yes” reaction I was hoping to have.

Next up is Mark Pellegrino who has been in Dexter, he is Jacob in Lost and is currently playing Lucifer’s host in Supernatural. I haven’t seen him in action so can’t really comment although I have heard good things from people in the know.

The last of the casting trio is another Brit, Stuart Townsend. He was going to be Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings, but got recast. He was going to be one of the Warriors Three in the Thor movie, but was recast. He was in the Nightstalker TV show reboot that got cancelled and he played Dorian Gray in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I think that is all the needs be said about Mr Townsend.

Out of those three I’d have to stick with Bamber (but that could change after seeing some of Pellegrino’s work). Which of the three do you like the most? If not them who else could play Rick?

Other people who could fit are Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) and possibly Nathan Fillion.

Gorram! Browncoats rejoice. Fan made Firefly spin-off looks cool

Posted by LiveFor on February 12, 2010

I miss Firefly. A show killed well before its time. Sure Serenity was great, but I wanted to see Mal Reynolds, Wash, and the rest of the crew have many adventures in the ‘Verse created by Joss Whedon.

Although not the same crew Browncoats can get their Firefly fix in a new HD web series scifi western called Courage. All about a ship and it’s crew running from a totalitarian government while spreading hope and courage to a rising rebellious voice.

It stars Philip Delorenzo, Aimee Binford, John Branch, Justin Rister, Alyssa Roehrenbeck, and Daniel Wolf.

Check out the trailer and let me know what you think. Shiny!

Check out the official site for more photos of the crew and you can also buy a Courage T-shirt over there.

Super – Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker joins the James Gunn directed film

Posted by LiveFor on January 12, 2010

Super is the story of Frank (Rainn Wilson), a disturbed individual who puts on a superhero costume and starts fighting crime as the Crimson Bolt with nothing more than a pipe wrench. Liv Tyler plays his drug addicted wife, Sarah, who leaves him for a charming drug dealer Jacques, played by Kevin Bacon. Ellen Page plays Libby, a young sociopath who decides to become the Crimson Bolt’s sidekick.

Now James Gunn, director of Slither, PG Porn, Tromeo and Juliet and The Specials (all of which are excellent) has posted some more casting news on his blog. Some spoilers ahead.

For those SLiTHER lovers out there, we have three cast members: Nathan Fillion will play a pop icon who inspires Rainn Wilson’s character, Michael Rooker will play Abe, Kevin Bacon’s bodyguard, and Gregg Henry will play John Felkner, a detective hot on the trail of the Crimson Bolt.

From the SCOOBY-DOO movies, I have my great pal Linda Cardellini playing a young woman who eventually delivers love to Rainn Wilson’s Frank.

From TROMEO & JULIET I actually have FOUR actors – my brother Sean and Stephen Blackehart round out Kevin Bacon’s motley crew of degenerates. Valentine Miele plays a prick who’s on the receiving end of the Crimson Bolt’s pipe wrench. And Troma president and co-founder Lloyd Kaufman has a cameo as well (and I promise to try to not cut his lines like I did in SLiTHER!)

Andre Royo, the star of my favorite TV show ever, THE WIRE, will play Frank’s best buddy Hamilton. I have never worked with him until now, but he’s amazing! I wrote the role of Hamilton for Andre without having ever met him, and he couldn’t have been a greater guy or more talented actor.

Also featured in small roles will be my friend Mikaela Hoover, star of HUMANZEE and PG PORN, my friend Nick Holmes, and my awesome sister-in-law Michelle Martin Gunn.

Great news for the film as Fillion is always cool (he so should have been Hal Jordan) and Michael Rooker knows how to bring it to any role.

Posted by LiveFor on October 24, 2009

Now Neil over at the excellent ScyfiLove found this clip of Castle/Reynolds in action.

Who else misses Firefly?

Nathan Fillion in Castle as Mal Reynolds?

Posted by LiveFor on October 15, 2009

500x_castlepeek
Nathan Fillion played Mal Reynolds in the excellent Firefly. That got cancelled which still pains me.

However, he now stars in Castle as an author who helps out the police.

Apparantly, Richard Castle dresses up for Halloween as a certain Captain of Serenity. Castletv got the photo.

Joss Whedon Talks Dr Horrible sequel

Posted by LiveFor on August 6, 2009

DrHorrible_NPH_03“We’re in there plugging. The writers are trying to put something together,” Whedon told MTV News. “We haven’t even decided on a venue. We have a story and we’re working that. We’re just starting with that.”

While he couldn’t share any details about the aforementioned story for the “Dr. Horrible” sequel, how it will relate to the first miniseries or whether Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris will reprise their roles, Whedon indicated that the lack of information was more due to the early stage of development than anything else.

“Doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, [we’re just] just figuring out the story,” he explained. “We’re really excited about what it is. More, I cannot say.”
