Posted by LiveFor on April 28, 2010

For as long as they can remember, THE BROTHERS BLOOM have only had each other to depend on. From their childhood, mischievously working their way through a series of foster homes, to their highflying lives as international con artists, Stephen (Mark Ruffalo – SHUTTER ISLAND, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND) and Bloom (Adrien Brody – FANTASTIC MR. FOX, THE DARJEELING LIMITED) have shared everything. However, despite an illustrious career, Stephen is still searching for the perfect con, the one where “everyone gets what they want.” Eager to retire, Bloom agrees to take part in one last grand scam by taking advantage of a lonely, eccentric millionaire called Penelope (Rachel Weisz – THE LOVELY BONES, THE FOUNTAIN). But when a genuine romance begins to blossom between Bloom and Penelope, Bloom finds himself reluctant to exploit her naiveté, but Penelope has already taken the bait. Penelope impulsively joins Bloom, Stephen and their “associate,” a sexy Japanese explosives expert named Bang Bang (Rinko Kikuchi), on an ocean liner to Greece. Convinced she’s happened upon the adventure of a lifetime, Penelope offers to bankroll a million dollar deal and as the quartet makes its way from Athens to Prague to Mexico to St. Petersburg, she quickly becomes addicted to the illicit thrills. But as Stephen’s elaborate web of deceit pulls tighter, Bloom begins to wonder if his brother has devised the most dangerous con of his life.

Academy Award winner® Rachel Weisz (THE CONSTANT GARDENER, THE MUMMY), Academy Award® winner Adrien Brody (THE PIANIST), Mark Ruffalo (ZODIAC), and Academy Award® nominee Rinko Kikuchi (BABEL) star in THE BROTHERS BLOOM, a globe-trotting comedy from Rian Johnston, director of the critically acclaimed BRICK, about the last great adventure of the world’s two best con men.

Jackie – Darren Aronofsky to direct Rachel Weisz

Posted by LiveFor on April 14, 2010

Jackie follows the days following President Kennedy’s assassination from the viewpoint of his wife. It shows the four days between JFK’s assassination and his burial, showing Jackie at both her most vulnerable and her most graceful.

News from the Hollywood Insider is that Academy-Award winning actress Rachel Weisz has the role of the late first lady. Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler), will direct and produce, along with his producing partner Scott Franklin and their Protozoa Pictures film company.

This had been rumoured to be a Steven Spielberg project but that is no longer the case.

It will be interesting to see how Aronofsky’s style translates to telling this tale. Weisz could be a good choice for the lead.

Bond 23 – Rachel Weisz could be head of Quantum

Posted by LiveFor on March 29, 2010

Mark this one as a rumour, but CinemaBlend are saying it is from a very reliable source. Rachel Weisz (The Fountain, The Mummy) may be the head of the organisation known as Quantum that has been causing Daniel Craig’s James Bond a bit of bother in the two previous films.

We’ve heard that Rachel Weisz could be involved in Bond 23. In the past she’s joked about becoming a Bond girl, and though she’s certainly beautiful, casting an actress of her caliber as yet another Bond nookie babe seems like kind of a waste. But Weisz is actually friends with Daniel Craig (in fact they’re working together on the upcoming movie Dream House) and in the past she had a personal relationship with would-be Bond 23 director Sam Mendes. All Bond girl kidding aside, she has before expressed real interest in doing a Bond movie with Craig. So why not give her something substantive in the movie, something that won’t reduce her to being 007’s latest conquest? Why not let her play the villain?

Would be nice to have Weisz as the big bad and a bit different, but this could all turn out to be like tears in the rain. How would you feel about it if it turns out to be true? What should they call the next Bond movie?

Madeline Stowe to direct Wolverine, a sparkly vampire and Rachel Weisz

Posted by LiveFor on May 14, 2009

Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson will star in the period drama Unbound Captives for Hyde Park Entertainment reports Variety.

Madeline Stowe and her husband, actor Brian Benben, penned the script under the pseudonym O.C. Humphrey back in the early 90’s.

Variety have the news and go on to say that Madeline Stowe was offered $3 million for the script in 1993 and later $5 million, but she turned the offers down.

“There was never a moment’s hesitation on my part, but it felt unreal, and I can
remember my husband putting a finger across his neck to signal not to take the
offer…Gil made me realize it when he said there isn’t anyone who’s going to
make the movie you want to make…”

Originally she had hoped to take the lead role for herself when she wrote it, but now she wants to direct the film about a woman (Weisz) whose husband is killed and her two children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859.

She is rescued by a frontiersman (Jackman), while Pattinson will play the son.

“I saw three actresses, and knew after meeting with Rachel that she was the
person I wanted to hand this role to…Robert said yes last fall, before
everything broke with ‘Twilight.’ Hugh said yes a couple of weeks ago.”

Intersting news and good to see them sticking to their guns.

The Brothers Bloom – trailer

Posted by LiveFor on April 8, 2009

The Brothers Bloom is a globe-trotting comedy about the last great adventure of the world’s best con men.

Welcome to the world of The Brothers Bloom, where deception is an art and nothing is as it seems. The brothers have perfected the art of swindling fortunes through years of fraternal teamwork. Now they’ve decided to take on one last spectacular job—luring a beautiful and eccentric heiress into an elaborate plot that takes them around the world.

For as long as they can remember, the Brothers Bloom have had only each other to depend on. From their childhood in a long series of gloomy foster homes to their highflying lives as international con artists, Stephen (Mark Ruffalo) and Bloom (Adrien Brody) have shared everything. Stephen brilliantly concocts intricate stories that the brothers live out, but he’s still searching for the perfect con, the one where “everyone gets what they want.” Meanwhile, Bloom yearns for “an unwritten life”—a real adventure, one not dreamed up by his old brother.

Eager to retire, Bloom agrees to take part in one last grand scam. He insinuates himself into the life of Penelope (Rachel Wiesz), a bored, single New Jersey heiress. When a genuine romance begins to blossom between them, he is reluctant to exploit her naiveté, but Penelope has already taken the bait: She impulsively joins Bloom, Stephen and their “associate,” a sexy Japanese explosives expert named Bang Bang (Rinko Kikuchi), on an ocean liner to Greece. Penelope is convinced she’s happened upon the adventure of a lifetime and offers to bankroll a million dollar deal. As the quartet makes their way from Athens to Prague to Mexico to St. Petersburg, Penelope quickly becomes addicted to the illicit thrills. But as Stephen’s elaborate web of deceit pulls tighter, Bloom begins to wonder if his brother has devised the most dangerous con of his life.
