The Expendables – Official trailer for Stallone and friends new film

Posted by LiveFor on March 31, 2010

Yes folks you do get to see Arnie, Stallone, and Bruce on screen together for the first time in the trailer. Anyone else get a little shiver when they saw that? Now if we could get them together in more than just a cameo. It even has the Eighties style voice over guy.

A group of mercenaries is hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge — one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

It stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Austin, Danny Trejo and Eric Roberts.

The Expendables – Bootleg Teaser Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on September 14, 2009

Here is a bootleg of the teaser trailer for The Expendables that was shown at Venice Film Festival 2009. Due out on 20th August 2010.

It is quite hard to tell how good or bad the film is going to be as it is difficult to make out what exactly is going on in the bootleg. I just want it to be at least half as good as my mind tells me it should be.

Director and star Sylvester Stallone is joined by Forest Whitaker, Eric Roberts, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lungdren, Mickey Rourke, Charisma Carpenter, Steve Austin, Arnold Scwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.

Thanks to Ian for providing the link to a working version of the bootleg.

Stallone’s The Expendables is out next August

Posted by LiveFor on September 2, 2009

expendables_poster-721x1024The Expendables will hit theaters on August 20th 2010.

It stars Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, and cameo appearances by Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge – one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as “removing those hard to get at stains.” The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons.

When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra (Giselle Itie), a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe (Eric Roberts) and his henchman Paine (Steve Austin). When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.

The Expendables – Photo of Stallone hanging from a plane

Posted by LiveFor on May 13, 2009

AICN had this pretty cool photo from Sylvester Stallone’s film, The Expendables.

As you can see it shows Stallone hanging from the doorway of a sea plane and I think it looks great. Really looking forward to this 80s style action movie made with today’s technology.

The Expendables follows a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. It stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, and Charisma Carpenter. Stallone both wrote and is directing the film.

50 Cent to replace Forest Whittaker in Stallone’s The Expendables

Posted by LiveFor on March 19, 2009

Filming for The Expendables had to be pushed back a month which meant Forest Whitaker had to bow out to due to scheduling conflicts. Sylvester Stallone sent these letters over to AICN. The first one mentions the various character names and points out that Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) has replaced Forest Whitaker in the film.

Needless to say this caused a whole heap of WTF so Stallone sent the second letter explaining the decision.

Dear Harry,

Below is a letter that I sent to the Stallone Zone that I had also wanted to
send to you because I have the same loyalty to your site as well. Anyway, it
might temper preconceived opinions.

Thank you and best,
Sly

P.S. Also, for clarification:
Hale Caesar is Curtis Jackson
Toll Road (new character) is Randy Couture
Monroe is Eric Roberts
Tool (an ex-Expendable) is Mickey Rourke
Bao is Jet Li
Lee Christmas is Jason Statham
Lacy is Charisma Carpenter
Sandra is Giselle Itie (famous Brazilian actress)
And
Barney ‘the schizo’ Ross is Yours Truly.

P.S.S. By the way, there’s enough testosterone and ego in this film to float
a large continent covered in elephants, but I’m enjoying it.
—————————————————————————

Dear Craig,

I appreciate the incredible amount of work you’ve done on my behalf. Please
tell the loyal followers to be positive not negative in their feedback. I am
not self-destructive. The anger of the casting of 50 Cent is understandable,
but not fair. A player is only as good as his coach. If a man can
communicate in one medium, he can communicate in another if his strengths
are brought out and he has the support of well-wishers. So, trust me, the
change of Forest Whitaker to 50 Cent AKA Curtis Jackson is a good one. No
one thought Dolph Lundgren was a good choice for ROCKY or Mr. T. Carl
Weathers was an afterthought when Ken Naughton fell out. The same with Talia
Shire and Richard Crenna, who was known as a comedic actor, not a serious
one.

Nobody wanted Eric Roberts over Ben Kingsley, but I believe it’s a vastly
improved casting. The point is, you either believe in me and the project,
setting your personal feelings aside, or you take a darker approach, which
really serves no purpose since your insight and suggestions and overall
enthusiasm are a great thrill for me to behold everyday I sign on.

Signing off –

Your friend,
Sly

Oh well, he does stand by his decision. Pity Whitaker can’t be in it. I’ve never seen 50 Cent in one of his acting roles so I’m not really in a position to comment. Do you think he is a good choice for the film or has Stallone dropped the ball on this one?

Stallone brings Charisma and Stone Cold to the Expendables.

Posted by LiveFor on March 12, 2009

Some more casting news for Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables has hit.

Variety reports that WWE alum “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Joss Whedon veteran, Charisma Carpenter (“Angel”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) have joined the cast of the film, which was written and will be directed by Sly.

The two join a growing cast which includes Sylvester Stallone, Forest Whitaker, Eric Roberts, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lungdren, Mickey Rourke and a cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Stallone seems to be being rather clever with his casting and going for actors who cover a multitude of genres. This should hopefully bring in the viewers when the film is released.

Mickey Rourke is one of The Expendables

Posted by LiveFor on January 7, 2009

It was mentioned the other day that Sir Ben Kinglsey was cast in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables and today comes the great news (via /film who also put together that cool photo I think) that Mickey Rourke will join the crew of Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, and Forest Whitaker.

The team is sent to infiltrate a South American country to overthrow the ruthless dictator and liberate the country. According to Variety, Rourke will play “an unscrupulous arms dealer who becomes the go-to guy for the group of mercenaries”. Principal photography is set to begin in Brazil and Louisiana in March.
