Captain America – Chris Evans will wield the shield

Posted by LiveFor on March 23, 2010

News was out a few days ago that Chris Evans (The Fantastic Four) had been offered the role of Captain America.

Now Heat Vision have the news that he has accepted the role. Thank crikey I say, No more waiting and wondering.

We now have our Steve Rogers. I think they made the right choice.

That means the main three for The Avengers are Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America.

Here is a brief bio on Steve Rogers:

Steve Rogers was a scrawny fine arts student specializing in industrialization in the 1940’s before America entered World War II. He attempted to enlist in the army only to be turned away due to his poor constitution. A U.S. officer offered Rogers an alternative way to serve his country by being a test subject in project, Operation: Rebirth, a top secret defense research project designed to create physically superior soldiers. Rogers accepted and after a rigorous physical and combat training and selection process was selected as the first test subject. He was given injections and oral ingestion of the formula dubbed the “Super Soldier Serum” developed by the scientist Dr. Abraham Erskine. Rogers was then exposed to a controlled burst of “Vita-Rays” that activated and stabilized the chemicals in his system. The process successfully altered his physiology from its frail state to the maximum of human efficiency, including greatly enhanced musculature and reflexes.

After the assassination of Dr. Erskine. Roger was re-imagined as a superhero who served both as a counter-intelligence agent and a propaganda symbol to counter Nazi Germany’s head of terrorist operations, the Red Skull. Rogers was given a costume modeled after the American flag, a bulletproof shield, a personal sidearm and the codename Captain America. He was also given a cover identity as a clumsy infantry private at Camp LeHigh in Virginia. Barely out of his teens himself, Rogers made friends with the teenage camp mascot, James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes. Barnes accidentally learned of Rogers’ dual identity and offered to keep the secret if he could become Captain America’s sidekick. Rogers agreed, and trained Barnes. Roger met President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who presented him with a new shield made from a chance mixture of iron, Vibranium and an unknown catalyst. Throughout World War II, Captain America and Bucky fought the Nazi menace both on their own and as members of the superhero team the Invaders, which after the war evolved into the All-Winners Squad.

How do you feel about Chris Evans being Cap?

The First Avenger: Captain America is out on 22nd July 2011.

Megamind – A new look at DreamWorks evil genius

Posted by LiveFor on March 14, 2010

This was the film that was originally called Oobermind and was going to have Robert Downey Jr voice the main character. That got changed and Will Ferrell got the job. Now we have a better look at the main character (the only other outing has been on a poster from August last year).

“When super villain MegaMind (Will Ferrell) defeats his archrival Metro Man (Brad Pitt), the world should be his oyster. But instead, MegaMind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a purpose for him. So he creates a new superhero rival, Titan (Jonah Hill). Unfortunately for him and the world, the new hero wants to be a super villain too. The new villain begins his rampage, and MegaMind sets out to stop him, beginning a path to redemption in the process.”

It is due out on the 5th November 2010.

Posted by LiveFor on March 9, 2010

After the excellent new trailer debuted yesterday for Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 along come some posters. There are ones for Iron Man (Robery Downey Jr) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) along with the standee about. The photo at the bottom has Downey Jr as Stark and I’m assuming Cheadle is in the Mark II suit.

Iron Man 2 – New trailer. They’ve got the briefcase suit!

Posted by LiveFor on March 8, 2010

“If you could make God bleed, people would cease to believe in him.”

More Downey Jr as Stark, more Rourke as Whiplash, more Cheadle as War Machine, more Johansson as Black Widow, more suits, more robots and it just looks awesome.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film based on the legendary Marvel Super Hero Iron Man, reuniting director Jon Favreau and Oscar® nominee Robert Downey Jr. In Iron Man 2, the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James Rhodey Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

Due out on 7th May 2010.

Is Thor in Iron Man 2? He could be in this photo

Posted by LiveFor on March 2, 2010

Recently a clip from Iron Man 2 surfaced. In the ever changing world of the Internet I just didn’t get around to posting it. However, io9 did (here’s the clip) and they also posted the photo above.

In the clip Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is walking through a prison to see Whiplash (Mickey Rourke). As he walks down the corridor the camera leaves Stark to focus on the prisoner above. An odd thing to do, but that is what has the people over on Cinema Blend thinking that this could be Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

It is a bit of a stretch but not that far fetched. Marvel Studios have previously had Easter Eggs such as this in their other films – Captain America was in a deleted scene in The Incredible Hulk and Caps Shield was briefly seen in the first Iron Man film, plus Stark popped up at the end of the Incredible Hulk. All of this ties together the films of the Marvel Universe.

The plot of Thor sees Thor (Chris Hemsworth) sent to Earth to learn humility. Therefore, it wouldn’t be that far fetched for him to end up in prison after starting a fight.

It would be nice if that is Thor and if so this is our first glimpse of him.

What do you think? Is that Thor or just a no good prison extra?

Iron Man 2 Costumes – Now you can have Tony Stark’s facial hair!

Posted by LiveFor on February 25, 2010

If you have ever wanted to look like Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, but were too lazy to grow your own goatee here is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Lots of Iron Man 2 costumes are there for the picking. As well as Iron Man you can dress up as an Ironette, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash, Don Cheadle’s War Machine (the helmet for that costume seems a bit big).

Robert Downey Jr loves his Iron Man toys

Posted by LiveFor on February 16, 2010

Not sure whether Robert Downey Jr, or RD-JR as I call him in a Star Wars kind of thing, is happy to be at the 2010 Toy Fair pimping the new Iron Man figures or whether he is wishing he was somewhere else.
