Posted by LiveFor on February 1, 2010

Directed by Derek Cianfrance. The film tells the story of married couple Cindy (Michelle) and Dean (Ryan) who go to a theme hotel in an attempt to save their marriage. They relive their entire love story from beginning to tumultuous present.

This has had loads of great word of mouth from the Sundance Film Festival so definitely one to watch out for.

Will the Green Lantern be Bradley Cooper?

Posted by LiveFor on May 6, 2009

There has been a lot of talk about who will be donning the Green and reciting the Green Lantern oath – Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Jack Black (Year One), David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel, Bones), Ryan Gosling (The Notebook), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity) to name but a few (my favourite would be Fillion).

Now another name has been thrown into the wilds of the internet and that name is Bradley Cooper. You may not know the name but you will have seen his face – Alias, The Hangover, Failure to Launch, Yes Man, He’s Just Not That Into You, and The Midnight Meat Train.

He has only been a lead in the last one, which was a horror, and all the rest have been mainly comedy roles so it is a bit of a surprise that he has been included to play Hal Jordan.

Here is what Drew McWeeney a.k.a. Moriarty on AICN, has to say about Cooper.

HitFix can exclusively report that Bradley Cooper is now one of the guys most likely to don the suit and slip on the power ring as The Green Lantern for director Martin Campbell.

Let’s be clear: they have not hired him yet. But the process is far enough along that this is more than just a meeting or some spot on a wish list. Keep in mind that Campbell likes to see a lot of people when he’s casting… and even when he’s screen-testing, he seems willing to explore as many options as possible… but with the film set to shoot later this summer, they’ve got to start making their choices, and now’s the time to put people in front of the camera and see who really works in the suit.

As the quote says Bradley is “one of the guys” so nothing has been decided. I personally just don’t see him as Earth’s Green Lantern, but he can act.

Would Bradley make a good Green Lantern? If not him who would you like to see play the part?

Who should play Green Lantern?(online surveys)

Could Chekov be the next Green Lantern?

Posted by LiveFor on February 27, 2009

MTV have some interesting news on a possible Green Lantern.

Star Trek” actor Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett, Star Trek) is rumored to be the front-runner to play DC’s Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, after Ryan Gosling (“The Notebook”) and Emile Hersch (“Speed Racer”) passed on the role.

According to anonymous sources at Latino Review, the “Green Lantern” producers are looking for a young star, but also someone familiar. The site named Yelchin, who plays Kyle Reese in the upcoming “Terminator: Salvation” and a young Pavel Chekov in the upcoming “Star Trek” film, as a potential candidate after Gosling, Hersch and upcoming “Clash of the Titans” actor Sam Worthington passed.

As one might expect, there’s some disagreement in the online world regarding the best candidate for the role of DC’s popular ring-bearer, with favorite actor of Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, and “Battlestar Galactica” star Jamie Bamber also popping up as potential stars. “Mad Men” actor Jon Hamm has also been mentioned as a worthy candidate to take up the role of Jordan

Hmm, not sure about this bit of news. He seems awfully young to play Hal. Not really watched him in anything though. What are your thoughts on it. If he is cast would he make a good Hal Jordan?

Will Superman be in the Green Lantern movie?

Posted by LiveFor on December 1, 2008

MTV spoke to Marc Guggenheim about the new Green Lantern film.

“This morning, we sat down to talk Green Lantern,” Guggenheim told MTV, “and we ended up riffing for an hour and a half on another, much more obscure character. Sometimes, you just have to roll with it when inspiration strikes, you know? I’m sure the studio wouldn’t be happy about it, but we’re not going to blow the deadline. We’ll get it in.”

Guggenheim said that he and fellow screenwriters Michael Green and Greg Berlanti (who’s also directing the film) are on the third studio draft, and they’ve just been refining the script based on studio notes and locations.

“[The changes are] nothing that’s affecting the storyline, really,” he said. “It’s pretty well set. But sometimes we’ll move a scene to a different location for budget purposes, perhaps in an already established location instead of a new one. It’s a question of, which locations can we live without? It’s a constant process to streamline what you’re going through, even after the film is shot, when you’re cutting things in the edit. That’s what the rewrite process is like, how you sand down the roughness of the a movie to its smoothest.”

Besides scripting, Berlanti is in constant talks with the designers such as Aaron Sims.

“I’ll come over and drool [at the designs],” Guggenheim said. “I will say that the design work is truly mindblowing, and it’s hard to pick a favorite. But the shots on Oa are spectacular. What Oa looks like has never been seen on film.”

And while there’s already a lot of speculation over who would play Green Lantern — Ryan Gosling? Matthew Settle? David Boreanaz? — what about Clark Kent, who will make a small cameo? Will the part go to someone already established on film or television to be the Man of Steel, like Brandon Routh or Tom Welling?

“There were rumors that Tom Welling would have a cameo in ‘Batman Begins’ as a young Clark Kent, to meet up with a young Bruce Wayne,” Guggenheim noted. “But you have to be careful when you do things like that, because it sounds great in concept, but when you sit down to watch it, it poses the danger of pulling you out of the film.”

But as a self-proclaimed “sucker for a good Easter egg,” Guggenheim said, “The fanboy in me would love that. Robert Downey, Jr. in ‘The Hulk’ was awesome. I love that stuff in general, and I think the fans would enjoy it. Brandon Routh or even Tom Welling [in ‘Green Lantern’] would be awesome. And anything is possible. The beauty part of being the writer, though, is that I don’t actually have to make that judgment call.”

Ryan Gosling could be Green Lantern

Posted by LiveFor on October 9, 2008

Latino Review have some news that Warner Brothers is looking at Ryan Gosling for the main role as Hal Jordan. This hasn’t been officially confirmed, but is apparantly from a good source.

I know Ryan has won an Oscar and has had good reviews for all the films he has been in (Lars and the Real Girl, Notebook, Half Nelson etc). However, I personally just don’t picture him as the Green Lantern. I know that’s just a looks thing and he’ll probably act it out of the park, but for the moment it just doesn’t grab me. If anything I could see him more as Sinestro.

What do you think of the news? Good or bad news for Green Lantern?
