Who will voice Zack Snyder’s Guardians of Ga’hoole?

Posted by LiveFor on November 19, 2009

Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush, Hugo Weaving and David Wenham will topline the voice cast of Animal Logic’s 3D animated feature, “Guardians of Ga’hoole,” according to Heat Vision.

The big-budget fantasy film, in production in Sydney and directed by Zack Snyder, also will feature the voices of Aussie actors Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Ryan Kwanten and Jay Laga’aia, as well as English actors Miriam Margolyes, Helen Mirren and Jim Sturgess.

The animated film is an adaptation of the 14 book bestselling kids series by author Kathryn Lasky and illustrator Richard Cowdry and follows Soren, a young owl enthralled by his father’s epic stories of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole, a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones.

The film is due for release in Australia on 9th December next year.

Griff the Invisible – Australian superhero film in the works

Posted by LiveFor on November 6, 2009

griffGriff the Invisible stars Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”) and Maeve Dermody (Black Water, Beautiful Kate) and tells the story of what happens when Griff – office worker by day, superhero by night – has his world turned upside down when he meets Melody, a beautiful young scientist who shares his passion for the impossible.

It is currently shooting in Sydney (any Live for Films readers in Sydney who have any photos of the shoot they can send over?)

“It is a super hero movie and it is a comedy, but at its core it’s a simple love story about two very unique individuals finding each other and giving the other the strength to be what they want to be,” said director Leon Ford from set.

This marks Ford’s first feature as director, after a string of acclaimed short films and years as an actor – recently in HBO’s long-awaited massive TV series “The Pacific”.

You can check Leon Ford’s blog for updates on the film. Looks like they are just over half way through the shoot. Reading through it I’m not sure whether Griff will actually become invisible or just use skills of urban camoflage to be a hero. I am assuming it will be the former as the character from H G Wells original story was called Griffen.

All in all it sounds quite promising. Looking forward to seeing some footage from the film.
