Black Death – Trailer for Sean Bean’s Medieval plague film

Posted by LiveFor on April 29, 2010

From Christopher Smith, director of cult hits Creep, Severance and Triangle, comes a brutal and terrifying epic that guarantees to chill the blood and stir the soul. I just want to know how long it takes until the excellent Sean Bean shouts, “Come on you bastards!”

In a plague-ridden medieval England, Osmund (Eddie Redmayne), a young monk, is charged in leading the fearsome knight Ulrich (Sean Bean), and his group of mercenaries to a remote village where the inhabitants are unaffected by the deadly pestilence. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer – someone able to bring the dead back to life.

Their journey is long and brutal; encountering deadly bandits, vicious witch-burnings and their own impeding sense of doom. Though it’s upon entering the village that their true horror begins…

Age of Heroes – Sean Bean and Danny Dyer in World War II movie

Posted by LiveFor on April 1, 2010

Yep, that is cockney geezer Danny Dyer getting choked during combat training for his new film Age of Heroes.

Sean Bean, Danny Dyer and Rosie Fellner star in the World War II action drama Age of Heroes, directed by Adrian Vitoria and co-written by Vitoria and Ed Scates.

It is planned as the first in a trilogy of war films based on the true story of the formation of Ian Fleming’s 30 Commando unit, a precursor for the elite forces over here in the U.K. That is the Ian Fleming who created James Bond.

Production is set to begin early next month in Norway.

Death Race: Frankenstein Lives – Sean Bean, Ving Rhames and Danny Trejo join Luke Goss

Posted by LiveFor on February 16, 2010

Well I thought this was going to be a low budget straight to DVD prequel to Paul W S Anderson’s 2008 film, but casting news from STYD makes me think that they are chucking a lot of money at this one as a few famous faces are joining Luke Goss (Hellboy 2) and Tanit Phoenix. Filming began over the weekend in South Africa on Death Race: Frankenstein Lives.

Goss plays Carl “Luke” Lucas, a man framed by the mob for the murder of a police officer. Sean Bean will co-star as Luke’s old mob boss; Ving Rhames is the man responsible for giving the greenlight to the Death Race (he’s apparently a “Rupert Murdoch” type); Danny Trejo is Luke’s pal in prison and Frederick Koehler will reprise his role as “Lists.”

Danny Trejo’s stock is on the rise with a starring role in Predators and Machete this new Death Race film is shaping up to be better than the first one.

CASH – Sean Bean and Chris Hemsworth take us behind the scenes and what’s the deal with the film with the same name?

Posted by LiveFor on January 27, 2010

CASH (CA$H), starring Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson & the Olympians) and Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek, Thor), will release Spring of 2010, states the official website for the film.

The clarification comes at a time when a low budget film of the same name, starring a cast of unknowns, has appeared online.

“We wish the other film good luck, and want to reassure Sean Bean and Chris Hemsworth fans that CASH, directed by Stephen Milburn Anderson, will release this Spring. You can expect an official announcement by early February,” said producer Naveen Chathappuram.

The film bearing the same name was previously titled “Bullets, Blood & a Fistful of Ca$h.”

One Sean Bean fan page suggests that the sudden name change may have occurred to “piggyback” off of marketing efforts and pre-release buzz on Anderson’s CASH; the film has already established a firm fan base through innovative marketing.

“Sean Bean’s fans are eagerly awaiting CASH with building excitement,” said Carol of www.themightybean.com. “I can’t wait to see Sean on screen with Chris Hemsworth, another hot and current actor. I’ve liked everything about CASH from the cast to the unique themes and podcasts. My anticipation is shared by Sean’s huge fan base.”

The film had a successful run at Cannes due to its marketing campaign, which will expand nationally once the release date and distributor is announced.

CASH is a quirky psychological thriller that explores the power money wields over humans. In CASH, the bad economy has taken a toll on Sam (Chris Hemsworth) and Leslie’s (Victoria Profeta) marriage and finances. When the couple finds a suitcase full of cash, they think their luck will take a turn for the better… Until the strange and sinister criminal Pyke Kubic (Sean Bean) arrives at their doorstep, looking to collect what he believes is rightfully his. As Pyke leads Sam and Leslie on a tumultuous adventure through the streets of Chicago, each are pulled into a desperate spiral of deception and violence, all in the name of cash. Joining Anderson and Chathappuram is executive producer Prema Thekkek.

CASH is made by Three Good Men, in association with Immortal Thoughts, Golden Wings Cinema and Tomahawk Films. Media 8 Entertainment, which produced and distributed the Academy Award winning Monster, acts as the World Sales Agent for the film.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief – New character posters for Zeus, Hera or is it Medusa, Hades and Persephone

Posted by LiveFor on January 22, 2010

Here are a few new international posters for the adaption of the first Percy Jackson book.

To be honest, these are not the best posters I have seen. Sean Bean as Zeus looks so old and the armour he is wearing reminds me of that shiny armour at the end of The Running Man the wrestler guy is wearing.

Hera is played by the lovely Erica Cerra from Eureka, but in the poster below you wouldn’t have a clue and the Cyclops style visor just looks odd….whoa whoa whoa Sweet Child of Mine! I think they’ve got the poster named wrong – it actually looks like Uma Thurman as Medusa and would tie in with the character in that her ‘hair’ is covered as are her eyes which, as we all know, turns you to stone. Bit of a mistake on the PR department for the film. Anyone else with me on this?Steve Coogan as Hades (above) is the only one who looks any good although Rosario Dawson as Persephone looks as gorgeous as always.

All of them have the usual lazy photoshop styling about them and it is a shame as some of the previous posters for the film have looked excellent. Mind you the Uma Thurman as Medusa poster was just dreadful. What do you think of the news posters? If you could do better send them to me.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief – Cool new character posters and some photos

Posted by LiveFor on January 14, 2010

I really like these character posters. Dark and moody and not just a big head!

Latino Review posted them and for those who haven’t read the book here is the synopsis:

It’s the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson’s Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they’re not happy: Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy’s mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy’s mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves

Directed by Chris Columbus, it stars Logan Lerman as Percy, Sean Bean as Zeus, Steve Coogan as Hades, Kevin McKidd as Poseidon, Uma Thurman as Medusa, Rosario Dawson as Persephone and Pierce Brosnan.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief – International Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on November 18, 2009

Here is the new trailer for the Percy Jackson film. It is based on a series of kids books by Rick Riordan. My son loves them and I’ve read the first one. It is a good kids book, but does follow the Harry Potter template to some extent. It is also a tad predictable, but that is probably down to age and having read many other books.

However, there are more monsters, Gods and smiting in the Percy Jackson books. Kids dig that. I suppose you could also compare it to a modern day Clash of the Titans.

This new trailer gives you a better idea of what the story is about, plus it shows some of the creatures including Uma Thurman as Medusa (apparantly iPhones have superceded shiny shields!). The trailer also shows Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, Rosario Dawson as Persephone and Logan Lerman as Percy. However, the film also features Kevin McKidd, Sean Bean, Steve Coogan, Joe Pantoliano and Catherine Keener so there are plenty of talented actors involved.

Have a watch of the trailer and let me know what you think – hit or miss?

Trouble-prone teen Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out school – but that’s the least of his problems. The gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy’s Greek mythology texts and into his life – and they’re not happy. Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now, Percy and his friends must embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true thief, save Percy’s family, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.
