Captain America – Alice Eve or Hayley Atwell for Peggy?

Posted by LiveFor on April 9, 2010

Hayley Atwell

UPDATE: Check out the video interview with Hayley where she talks about Captain America and confirms Tommy Lee Jones will also be starring in it.

Emily Blunt recently said she wasn’t going to try out for the role of Captain America’s war time girlfriend, Peggy and looks like Kiera Knightley has said no. I missed this bit of news from a couple of days ago.

E Online have the following bit of news.

A well-placed source tells me that British actress Alice Eve, 28, is the front-runner to play Peggy Carter in the much chattered about upcoming superhero movie The First Avenger: Captain America.

You may not know Eve by name (yet), but…

She’s the blond beauty in the recently released She’s Out of My League. She’ll also be seen next month in the second Sex and the City movie playing Charlotte’s nanny.

Also up for the Peggy Carter part is fellow Brit Hayley Atwell, 28. I’m told both actresses are screen-testing for the second time for the coveted role tomorrow in London. I also hear that Keira Knightley is no longer in the running.

Do either of them have what it takes to be Peggy?

Looks like this is a bit saucier than the previous trailer made out.

The Electric Church can give you eternal life….for a price

Posted by LiveFor on January 21, 2010

Sony Pictures has picked up the movie rights to a series of sci-fi novels by Jeff Somers, tapping Trevor Sands to adapt the first book, titled “The Electric Church.”

Jimmy Miller is producing the adaptation, which is working under the moniker of the “The Avery Cates Project,” named after the book’s main character.

Somers has so far written three books, all set in a near future where Earth is run by a federation of nations and governed by a council. Cates is a bodyguard-assassin who, in “Church,” is forced by the governing police force to kill the founder of a church that converts people by transplanting their brains into pliant robotic bodies.

Sands got the job after impressing the studio and producer with “Redemption Falls,” a Western spec that went out last year.

The scribe recently adapted the science fiction book series “Hyperion” for Warner Bros. and GK Films, to which director Scott Derrickson is attached.

The project marks a change of pace from the usual fare for which Miller is known. The producer made a name for himself in comedies and has Jay Baruchel’s “She’s Out of My League” coming out in March. He also is developing the comedy “Bad Teacher” for Sony, with Cameron Diaz attached.

She’s Out of My League – Poster and Trailer for Jay Baruchel’s new comedy

Posted by LiveFor on January 8, 2010

Kirk (Jay Baruchel, “Knocked Up,” “Tropic Thunder”), an average Joe, can’t believe his luck. Though he’s stuck in a seemingly dead-end job as an airport security agent, against all odds Molly (Alice Eve), a successful and outrageously gorgeous babe falls for him. Kirk is stunned. So are his friends, his family and even his ex-girlfriend. Now he has to figure out how to make the relationship work, even though he’s the first to admit “She’s Out of My League.”
