Swiss Army Knife of Awesomeness

Posted by LiveFor on March 27, 2010

I can see Lion-O’s sword,Mjoilnor (sp?), sonic screwdriver, Star Trek OS phaser, lightsaber, Blade Runner gun, Noisy Cricket, Harry Potter’s wand and I’m not too sure on the grapple gun and swords – Conan’s and Aragorn’s maybe?

Call me Ish and hopefully Fearless Leader Phil will be back on the posting game tomorrow as I’m burning out after just a few days.

Clash of the Titans – First official poster.

Posted by LiveFor on December 10, 2009

I posted many Clash of the Titans posters a while back when they showed up at one of those Film business shows. Now the first one has been officially released and the good folks of Total Film posted it. If you didn’t already know Medusa is in it and Perseus kills her!

What do you think Perseus is screaming? Is it “Thundercats….Ho!”?

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

“Clash of the Titans” is being directed by Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk”). Leading the international cast is Australian actor Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, king of the gods. Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) takes on the role of the mighty Zeus, and Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, “The English Patient”) plays the role of Hades, god of the underworld, who feeds on human fear. Rounding out the cast is Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace”) as Io, Perseus’ mysterious spiritual guide throughout his journey; Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) as Draco, who takes up his sword to join Perseus’ quest; Jason Flemyng (“Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels”, “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, TV’s “Primeval”) as Acrisius, a one-time king turned hideous beast; and Alexa Davalos (“Defiance”) as Andromeda, a princess doomed to lose her life if Perseus does not succeed.

The Clash begins (that’s a dreadful tagline isn’t it and what is with the terrible font they’ve used for it?) on 26th March 2010.

Thundercats – Concept Art

Posted by LiveFor on August 2, 2009

MovieLine have some wonderful images based on the script, written by Paul Sopocy which was to follow Lion-O’s origin myth from young cub to his anointment as Lord of the ThunderCats, and was to be directed by veteran art director Jerry O’Flaherty.

Movieline has obtained O’Flaherty’s never-before-seen Thundercats concept art, demonstrating just how gorgeous and ambitious his vision for this production is.

No word on what is going to happen and if this will even see the light of day, but they sure are pretty. Above is Lion-O and below is Mumm-Ra’s pyramid.thunder1

Thunder…Thunder…Thundercats Hooooo! Charles Wen is down to do the concept art

Posted by LiveFor on December 10, 2008

Comic Book Movie that Charlie Wen, an illustrator and concept artist for God of War I and II (the games) and Gatchaman the movie would be doing the concept work for the new Thundercats movie – I’ve included some of his concept art from God of War and it looks stupendous. If he can bring his A-game to the Thundercats film then it may get past the major cheese factor from the original cartoon. Warners took the unusual move of hiring a video game designer to direct. Jerry O’Flagherty was the art director made famous by his work on the Gears of War game. By all accounts so far this movie is receiving a solid design treatment on updating the look of the ThunderCats while paying homage to the original series.
