Godkiller – Cool poster for animated series

Posted by LiveFor on September 21, 2009

Halo-8 Entertainment have released a new limited edition poster by acclaimed comic book artist Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash) for their upcoming dark animated series Godkiller, written and directed by Matt Pizzolo and based upon his original graphic novel. STYD had the poster.

Godkiller takes place in a dark-future after economic collapse, after nuclear holy war, and after Earth is colonized by alien races. Tommy and his kid sister Lucy live in an orphanage in one of the few remaining city-states, but Lucy is critically ill and desperately in need of a new heart. Tommy’s odyssey to find a new heart for his sister begins when he follows an organ-stealing prostitute named Halfpipe out of the city-state and into the savage borderland known as Outer City. Godkiller mixes unforgiving brutality, quantum physics, conspiracy theory, and secret history for an iconoclastic hero’s journey like none before it.

It features the voice talents of genre veterans Danielle Harris (Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2, the upcoming webseries Fear Clinic), Tiffany Shepis (Night Of The Demons), Bill Moseley (2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys) and Lance Henriksen.

In celebration of the October 6th DVD release of Godkiller Episode 1, Tim Seeley illustrated a limited-edition poster of Godkiller’s lovable organ-stealing duo Halfpipe (Harris) and Angel**** (Shepis).

Godkiller’s release schedule:

October 6th 2009: EPISODE 1 limited edition, shortform DVD
November 24th 2009: EPISODE 2 limited edition, shortform DVD
January 26th 2010: Day & Date – THEATRICAL PREMIERE of full feature, EPISODE 3 limited edition, shortform DVD
March 30th 2010: FULL FEATURE DVD & BLU-RAY

Green Arrow: Supermax – Justin Marks talks about that and Hack/Slash

Posted by LiveFor on November 1, 2008

The self-proclaimed screenwriter of “all things geeky,” Justin Marks stopped by the CBR Boat Show at Comic-Con International in San Diego to talk about his numerous film projects. In this exclusive on-camera interview, Marks discusses with CBR Executive Producer Jonah Weiland the status of “Hack/Slash,” the forthcoming live-action adaptation of Tim Seeley’s hit Devil’s Due horror-comedy series about Cassie Hack, a hero Marks describes as a “motherfucking ass-kicking bitch” with “the heart and soul of a teenage girl.”

Marks, who’s also involved with big-screen versions of Voltron, He-Man and Street Fighter (“my film resume looks like a yard sale in 1991”) also updates fans on “Green Arrow: Escape From Super Max,” which he’s working on with “Batman Begins” co-writer David S. Goyer.

Hack/Slash Comic to be a Film

Posted by LiveFor on June 27, 2008

As well as being heavily into films I am also a massive comic book fan. Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll no doubt say something like, “Yes he is”, “Christ he never shuts up about them”, or “please don’t mention his name it makes me want to vomit on puppies”.

It is therefore, with some embarrassment, that I have to admit that I had not heard of the Hack/Slash series by Tim Seeley until recently. However, having heard about it and thinking it sounded pretty cool I caught up with as many issues as I could find and enjoyed every single one. The reason I’m mentioning it now is that it is apparently being turned into a movie for a 2009 release. If done well it should be one to watch.
Okay, for those not in the know, the story follows the adventures of Cassie Hack and her hunt for the undead creatures known as Slashers. These are basically twisted individuals who may have been serial killers back in the day. They were then caught and killed but were reborn as Slashers to carry on their dastardly work. Basically, people like Freddy Kreuger, Jason, Chuckie, etc (infact many of these movie icons crop up in the comic book). Cassie was picked on as her kid so her Mum killed the school kids who did this and became known as The Lunch Lady. When the police came for her she killed herself and was reborn as a Slasher. Cassie found out about this and killed her resurrected mum before heading out into the big wide world and he quest to kill all known Slashers. All well and suitably twisted. She’s joined on her quest by the hulking, disfigured, Vlad who wears a gas mask to hide his face and he’s very good with a knife.
The comic from Devil’s Due Publishing itself is very funny, bizarre and messed up. Well worth picking up if you can. Turning it into a movie should result in some celluloid gold spattered in blood. I shall keep you posted on its development as and when I find out anything new.
