Dylan Baker in Spider-Man 4. Will the Lizard follow?

Posted by LiveFor on October 23, 2009

dylan-bakerIn a recent Q&A following a screening of Trick ‘r Treat (I’ve got that on preorder – can’t wait), Dylan Baker did reveal that he will be reprising the role of Curt Connors (the one-armed scientist who would one day become the reptilian villain The Lizard) in Spider-Man 4:

Baker said that he had just gotten his first call concerning Spider-Man 4 that very day. Baker appeared in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 as Dr. Curt Connors, a professor at Empire State University.

When Dougherty ribbed him about “just appearing in the background” Baker said that, basically, that’s what he’d be doing. It was unclear if they were being truthful or if, in fact, Dr. Connors would become supervillain The Lizard in this fourth entry in the film series. During their riffing, Dougherty used the phrase “cocktease for another year” as to whether or not we’d see The Lizard.

I really do hope they use the Lizard in the new film as that could lead to some Raimi horror style shenanigans like he had with Doc Ock. Plus it would be a good excuse to bring in Kraven the Hunter to track down the Lizard and Spidey has to protect Dr Connors.

Sam Raimi has also said that Bruce Campbell will have a “Meatier” role in the new film. Other sites are saying this could mean he will be playing a villain such as Mysterio. However, I reckon he will be playing a butcher who interacts with Peter Parker at some point in the film.

Do you want the Lizard in the next Spider-Man film? If not him then what other villains would be good to see in it?

Also if Bruce was to play a villain which one could it be? Maybe the Chameleon and that could tie up all his previous appearances in the Spider-Man films.

Trick ‘r Treat – DVD Trailer

Posted by LiveFor on September 10, 2009

Four interwoven tales are set on Halloween night: a high-school principal who moonlights as a vicious serial killer, a young virgin whose quest for that special someone takes a gruesome turn, a group of teens who carries out a cruel prank with disastrous consequences, and a cantankerous old man who battles a mischievous trick-or-treating demon.

This film written and directed by Michael Dougherty has been knocking around since 2007 and has had brilliant reviews everywhere.

However, Warner Bros has kept holding it back. Now it finally gets a release straight to DVD near the end of October. I’ve already ordered my copy.

Trick ‘R Treat gets a release date at last

Posted by LiveFor on August 17, 2009

trick or treatWarner Home Video have finally announced the fact that they’ll be releasing Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘R Treat on DVD and Blu-Ray 6th October. Originally slated for release back in 2007, the film received almost unanimous positive reviews after screenings at film festivals, including the Audience Choice Award at the 2008 Los Angeles Screamfest, but constant unexplained delays continued to keep the film out of the hands of horror fans, leaving many of them irate. It looks like the wait is finally almost over now.

Trick ‘R Treat is an anthology of five scary stories, all related to Halloween and tied together by the appearance of Sam, the burlap pumpkin masked trick-or-treater who offers a “friendly reminder” to characters who break Halloween traditions.

This is one of those cool films that just seems to have been smacked down by the studios. All who have seen it say it is an excellent horror so send a message to the studio and go out and buy it when it is released to show that they should put quality movies on the big screen and not keep chucking the crap stuff our way.

Trick r’ Treat finally heading our way

Posted by LiveFor on June 19, 2009

Michael Dougherty’s horror movie Trick ‘r Treat will finally be getting shown on the big screen. Warner Brothers delayed its release for almost two years. I’m not sure why as everyone who has seen it has said it is one of the best horror movies of all time.

It’s scheduled to hit DVD sometime in October in time for Halloween, but before that, Dougherty has arranged a nationwide road show for the film, which will be kicking off sometime this July and running through October.

The cities confirmed so far are: Montreal, Canada for the Fantasia Film Festival; Toronto, Canada for the Toronto After Dark Film Festival; Mexico for the Morbido Festival; Austin, Texas for Fantastic Fest; San Francisco, California; and London, England.

First Showing had the news and they also have a great review of the film. I can’t wait to see it.

Happy Halloween

Posted by LiveFor on October 31, 2008

Have a great Halloween. Trick or Treat safely and enjoy your goodies. Scare safely and if you are dressing up send me a photo of you in your costume and I’ll post them on the site for the World to see (below are a couple of pumpkins I carved for the kids last night). I’ve also got my 2 year old daughter walking around like a little smiling Zombie whenever I ask, “What’s a zombie do?” If you pretend to be scared she then runs up to you saying, “It’s okay, it’s okay!” and then hugs you. I think she’s going to enjoy Halloween. My son is going to be dressing up as a Vampire and will be eating lots of sweets.
Once the kids are all partied out and down from the sugar rush, the Wife and I will settle down to watch Psycho. What will you be getting up to? What scary movies will you be watching? Let me know in the comments below.
Send you Halloween costume photos to live.for.film@hotmail.co.uk

Trick ‘r Treat Poster

Posted by LiveFor on August 11, 2008

I really like the artwork on this poster for Trick ‘r Treat and good to see a kind of anthology movie hitting the cinemas soon.

Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.
