Warwick Davis talks about Hitchhikers, his book and an Ewok film

Posted by LiveFor on April 27, 2010

Warwick Davis will soon be starring in Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant’s new sitcom, Life’s Too Short. We know him as Wicket the Ewok, Willow, the Leprechaun and Marvin the Paranoid Android.

He always comes across as a top bloke and he has a book out called Size Matters Not, which is just the best title ever.

In the book he also recounts learning the etiquette of false beard cleaning from Michael Gambon while filming Harry Potter (check that out below); smoking a bong taller than him for comedy slasher Leprechaun; and what it was like to work with George Lucas while playing the part of Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi – upon their first meeting on set, twelve year-old Warwick had no idea who the luminary director was, and passed him off as “a man with big hair, glasses and a beard” (they get on much better now, and Lucas wrote the foreword to his book).

Invasion of the Not Quite Dead – Help finance a Zombie film

Posted by LiveFor on February 2, 2010

The Indywood Project are trying to get money together for their zombie feature, Invasion of the Not Quite Dead.

It stars Leslie Simpson (Dog Soldiers, Descent and Straw Man) who is a top bloke. Efisia Fele, Warwick Davis (Willow, Return of the Jedi), Jordan Rees, Lloyd Kaufman and Ken Russell as Mr Hickory. A nice cast there for a film such as this.

You can also be a part of the film by giving a bit of cash and becoming a producer. Check out their site for more info.

Warwick Davis would love to be Dr Who

Posted by LiveFor on November 27, 2008

The excellent chap, Dave Bentley, over at The Coventry Telegraph Geek Files has news on another actor who would love to be considered for the next regeneration of the one true Time Lord. That’s right Willow, Wicket, The Leprechaun, the one and only Warwick Davis. Here’s what Dave has to say.

ACTOR Warwick Davis said he’d love to be the new Doctor Who and have his own special TARDIS.

The 38-year-old star, who plays Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films, was among sci-fi celebrities at The Memorabilia Show at the NEC, Birmingham, this past weekend.

He said: “I want to be in Doctor Who. I would kill to replace David Tennant and become the next Time Lord.

“I had a great idea: Doctor Who is going to change, regenerate, but something goes a bit wrong. For just a couple of episodes it would be me as the Doctor, they go in the Tardis and inside it’s not vast, it’s tiny and they all bang their heads!”

Davis played the lead in Willow and in the Leprechaun film series, Reepicheep in the TV versions of the Narnia books and was the dwarf Nikabrik in this year’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

I do like Warwick’s idea of being the Doctor for an episode or two. He’s a great actor and it would put a nice spin on things. Head on over to read the rest of the article and Warwick’s memories of playing Wicket in Return of the Jedi.

Lightsabre Duel – Justin Lee Collins v Warwick Davis on Bring Back…Star Wars

Posted by LiveFor on September 19, 2008

This was from the excellent Bring Back…Star Wars that was on the other night. Good to see many of the Star Wars cast having a laugh with it (apart from Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, although I do think his agent just didn’t pass the message onto him).
