The Wolfman – New photos

Posted by LiveFor on August 20, 2009

wolfman1
Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman, based on the classic Universal film brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Directed by Joe Johnston, this horrifying remake also stars Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving, and Art Malik.

This film has an amazing cast but the release has been pushed back a couple of times and reshoots have had to be done. I’m hoping it is going to be good and I do like the feel you get from these photos.

The film opens on 12th February 2010 and the trailer is due out tomorrow.

An American Werewolf in London – Can you say remake? No doubt we’ll see it next Wednesday!

Posted by LiveFor on June 29, 2009

John Landis’ classic comedy horror was one of the first film that gave me nightmares as a kid. The bit in the dream when the Nazi Werewolves kick the door in and shoot the family did it for me. A bit older and with repear viewings made me realise just how good it was.

The bit on the London tube is one of the spookiest, suspenseful scenes in an movie and the actual transformation scenes is one of the greatest physical effects ever.

Now comes a rumour which could lead to the greatness of the movie to be diminshed.

John Landis has sold the remake rights for An American Werewolf In London to Dimension Films according to a tipster over at Bloody Disgusting.

Of course even if this is true it doesn’t necessarily mean that we will see a remake, but the chances are we will soon be seeing a crappy CGI wolf running around London cracking wise and looking at the camera with a wink while chewing on a bloody corpse.

Would you want to see a remake of this classic? How will they piss all over the original?

Teen Wolf – Lycanthropy a-go-go again

Posted by LiveFor on June 18, 2009

Another remake of a film from my childhood – Michael J. Fox’s Teen Wolf is in early development.

Warner Bros looking for writers to do a new version of Rod Daniels’ 1985 hit. Moviehole say that the studio is not quite certain ”which way they’re going to go.”

I personally thought that Teen Wolf Too starring Jason Bateman had killed the franchise but it looks as if the studios are intent on redoing every film from the Eighties.

The original tells the tale of basketballer (Fox) who, upon discovering he’s a werewolf like his father (James Hampton), finds popularity and notoriety… and the ability to slamdunk. The only person not excited to be losing ‘the old Scott’ is long-time best pal, Boof (Susan Ursitti).

Nobody word on director or cast as it is still early days. However, if they are going to go big with this then Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson will no doubt be approached.

A remake too far? Do you want to see a new version? What should be in it? Who should be the star?

Directed by Chris Weitz, the vampire sequel reteams Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Melissa Rosenberg wrote the script.

In The Twilight Saga’s New Moon, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested.

It is due out on 20th November.

Dylan Dog – Our first look at Brandon Routh as the Nightmare Investigator

Posted by LiveFor on May 7, 2009

Here are the first photos from the Kevin Munroe helmed, Dead of Night. It is based on the horror comics by Tiziani Sclavi that feature the horror detective Dylan Dog.
Dylan Dog is played by Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and the pictures do show a similarity between the comic book character and the actor. According to /Film the original character design was based on Rupert Everett – The Everett that existed before the facial reconstruction altered him almost beyond recognition!
The sickly looking character below is Sam Huntington as Dylan’s undead sidekick Marcus.
Finally, we have the always cool looking Taye Diggs as the Vampire leader, Vargas.
Peter Stormare and Kurt Angle are also in the film as a pair of werewolves.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it will be any good? Is Routh a convincing leading man or is he forever linked with the mediocre Superman Returns?

Gladiators vs Werewolves: Edge of Empire

Posted by LiveFor on April 29, 2009

From AV Pictures (Lesbian Vampire Killers) comes the next great genre mashup – Gladiators vs Werewolves. Sounds almost like a prequel to Dog Soldiers – funny as Neil Marshall is making the Roman themed Centurion.

Twitch had the synopsis.

AD 160. The Romans occupy Britain, and the great Hadrian’s Wall divides the land, built to keep back the northern warrior tribes, and something far more dangerous; a clan of savage wolf-like creatures which roam the lowlands.

Word reaches Governor Flavius that the Emperor has decreed that new, more fearsome beasts should be captured for the games. The ambitious Governor, having heard rumours of the fierce wolf-beasts beyond the great wall, senses an opportunity to win favour with the Emperor and even a place in the senate.

The heroic Centurian, Titus, is tasked with hunting and trapping the wolf-creatures. Titus and his legionaries track the beasts to their mountain lair and discover a warrior clan who transform at will into mighty, armour clad werewolves. In a fierce battle, the beasts slaughter half of the legionaries. Titus and his surviving men escape and ensnare the pursuing werewolves.

The Governor is delighted he has his prized new fighting savages, but Titus realizes that anyone bitten by a werewolf is cursed to become one of their kind. He warns the Governor that the werewolves pose a grave threat if they increase their numbers. Titus’s reward for challenging the Governor is to be stripped of his rank and thrown into the arena where the beasts’ savagery will be tested.

Excited spectators cram the amphitheatre. Titus and the land’s best gladiators are pitted against the ferocious werewolves, but the beasts are powerful and smart. For every two fighters they slay, they leave one wounded and alive. Titus’s fears are confirmed; the werewolves are building an army. The final day of the games will be a blood and thunder battle, more savage than any Roman has seen or experienced before.
