Eric Stoltz to direct war movie, Racing Patriots

Posted by LiveFor on May 6, 2010

The man who could have been Marty McFly, Eric Stoltz, is down to direct Racing Patriots. Sounds like a crazy mix of racing cars and warfare.

The story, written by Frederic Helmer, follows three Grand Prix champs who escaped from France in 1940 and were trained by Winston Churchill’s Special Operations Unit as spies and saboteurs. They soon help lead the French resistance during the occupation under the noses of the Gestapo and Nazi terrorism experts.

Samuel Le Bihan will star as Robert Benoist, a WWI flying ace and 1927 World Champion. The other two roles – First Monaco Grand Prix winner William Grover-Williams, and 1937 and 1939 Le Mans winner Jean Pierre Wimille – have yet to be announced.

Does sound very intriguing and will be interesting to see what Stoltz does with it.
