Welcome to Hoxford – Werewolf? There, wolf. There, castle.

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

Chris Columbus’ 1492 Entertainment has picked up the film rights to IDW Publishing’s horror graphic novel “Welcome to Hoxford.”
Ben Templesmith, who co-penned the vampire comic series “30 Days of Night,” which Sony made into a film in 2007, created “Hoxford,” about a psychiatrist who must team with a deeply disturbed patient in order to escape werewolves who run an institution for the criminally insane. Plans are for Columbus to produce the adaptation along with 1492 partners Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.

Templesmith is also behind the graphic novels “Wormwood Gentleman Corpse” and “Singularity 7.”

Columbus, who most recently wrapped Fox Atomic’s “I Love You, Beth Cooper,” is next expected to direct Fox 2000’s “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief,” based on the Rick Riordan book. He’s also circling “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” for Paramount.

Ghostbustin’ 911 – Fan made series

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

While we wait for Ghostbusters 3, starring whoever and produced by someone, have a look at this.

Ghostbustin 911 is a not-for-profit, comedic parody of COPS involving camera personnel riding along with the local Twin Cities Ghostbusters squad, investigating reports of haunting and paranormal activities in the area. This project began as an idea to make a short Ghostbuster fan film for public access, and has grown into a large-scale production of an entire season of half-hour episodes, having attracted the volunteer participation of professional local film, music and radio talent. We strive for high quality production value, despite having no budget beyond the meager out-of-pocket contributions of the show’s producers, who also play leading characters.

Have a watch of the first episode below and be sure to let me know what you thought of it.

Metropolis – Cool Poster

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

Mondo Tee’s brand new Metropolis poster. This was made by Uruguayan illustrator Martin Ansin for the upcoming SXSW screening of the film at the Alamo Drafthouse.

Two different variants of the poster were made, one is gold, the other is silver, both printed with metallic inks, with the silver one also featuring glow in the dark ink.

I really love the whole look of them.

You can buy them from Mondo Tee.

100ft Dr. Manhattan and the Comedians Badge arrive in London – Amazing Water Projection

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

This dramatic, one-off spectacle was created using the worlds biggest water screen projector. The water screen, moored especially for this occasion in the middle of the Thames between the London Eye and The Shell Building, created an enormous vertical screen of water that extended to 72 feet in height and 100 feet across. Specially created, never to be seen again Watchmen footage, was projected onto the screen to showcase Dr Manhattans translucent and shimmering form in dramatic and gigantic effect an excellent and exciting medium to see Dr Manhattan in all his super human glory as he hovered over the city in true Watchmen style.

Below is video footage of the event.

Another Photo of Angelina Jolie in Salt

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

Here’s another pic of Jolie from Philip Noyce’s Salt. The film tells the story of a CIA officer who is outed as a Russian sleeper spy, and must evade capture by those who are convinced she’s aiming to assassinate the president.

No wig this time, just a beanie hat which seems to make her eyes go bigger. Is she trying out for the role of a Grey Alien or something?

Star Trek – Live every day as if it could be your last, with ‘Red Shirt’ cologne.

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

First there was Sex Panther Aftershave from Anchorman. Now Star Trek are getting into the aftershave market.

Genki Wear, known for its licensed science fiction jewelry and perfumes, has produced what might be the most unusual Star Trek product ever: Star Trek colognes and perfume based on the original 1960s television show.

Genki Wear Star Trek Perfume – A trio of scents from the final frontier
There are three fragrances planned for 2009 with the monikers “Tiberius” “Red Shirt” and “Ponn Farr.”

Tiberius
The Tiberius cologne, named in honor of the Mirror Universe James T. Kirk’s challenges users to “Boldly Go” with a perfume described as being spiked with “notes of freshness and sensuality.” According to Genki Wear, the perfume has sweet citron zest, black pepper, and cedar as its top notes (top notes refers to those scents that are noticeable first) and warm vanilla, white musk, and sandalwood as its base notes (scents perceived last, usually about a half hour after application). Genki Wear promises that “Tiberius Cologne for men is difficult to define and impossible to refuse” which is also a pretty good description of the Mirror Kirk himself.

Red Shirt
Genki’s “Red Shirt” cologne (whose tag line “Because Tomorrow May Never Come” is priceless) celebrates the sacrifices of those often nameless crew of the USS Enterprise. Described appropriately as a cologne for those with a “devotion to living each day as it could be your last” the cologne has top notes of green mandarin, bergamot, and lavender, with base notes of leather and grey musk.

Both the Tiberius and Red Shirts are 100ml (3.4 oz) quality colognes built from long lasting fragrances for men, and will retail for $30-40 depending on the department or retail store.

Pon Farr
The most risqué titled of the new Star Trek fragrances is “Ponn Farr” which is a perfume designed to “drive him wild.” It should only be used once every seven years (okay, that isn’t true). Named for the Vulcan mating ritual first introduced in the episode “Amok Time,” this perfume is one of the newly designed products meant to appeal to female fans. More details and an image on Ponn Farr will be available soon.

H2 – Michael Myers as we’ve never seen him before

Posted by LiveFor on March 5, 2009

Yep the bearded fellow above is Tyler Mane as Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s H2 (the sequel to his Halloween reboot). Good to see they are going in a slightly different direction by not having him in the William Shatner mask for the full film. The shot actually reminds me of the Fantastic Four comic when Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) stumbles across a bearded tramp / hobo who turns out to be Namor the Submariner, but that’s just me.

The photos come from STYD who have few more photos from the filming as well.

They also have this snippet of news about the young actor Daeg Faerch. He wrote via his MySpace blog that he will not be in the film. “Although I was contracted to reprise the role of young Michael Myers in the upcoming H2 after filming briefly on the set in GA, I am to be recast due to my increased height.”

The shot below is of Dr. Loomis’ (Malcolm McDowell) book based on the exploits from the first film.

Do you like the beard on Myers? Are you looking forward to H2? Did you enjoy Zombie’s Halloween?
