Nightmare on Elm Street – Freddy Krueger Action Figure gives us a look at his new face

Posted by LiveFor on November 25, 2009

The trailer for the new Nightmare on Elm Street trailer didn’t really show Freddy’s face – turned out the effects were still being worked on but they had said they’d done a lot of research regarding burn injuries.

Now Figures.com had this photo of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy and we can now see that he does look a little different to the original. Definitely a more burn victim look.

I think it will work in the film. What do you think of Freddy’s face?

The Kurgan may be Lobo

Posted by LiveFor on October 28, 2009

brown+clancyThis is excellent news and if it is true I couldn’t be happier. Rumor has it that the main man, Lobo, may be played, or at least voiced by the one and only Clancy Brown.

Mania.com says it has spoken with a source close to the production about how the DC Comics intergalactic bounty hunter will be brought to life in the Guy Ritchie-directed movie.

“Ultimately regardless of whether you do it all CG or its a guy in a suit, with CG, you’ll still end up doing a lot of CG animation,” the source told the site. “So do you need a celebrity? Do you need a name or do you just get someone who is good and who’s gonna nail it?”

According to the source “a name that’s come up frequently in meetings [to play Lobo] is Clancy Brown.”

Brown was of course The Kurgan in Highlander, but he also starred in The Shawshank Redemption, Pathfinder, Starship Troopers, ER, and Carnivale. He will next be seen in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

He has also done lots of voice work for animate shows – Lex Luthor in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Justice League, Superman, and The Batman (where he also voiced Mister Freeze). He has also lent his voice to numerous other animated projects, including SpongeBob SquarePants (as Mr. Krabs), The Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men (as Mister Sinister), Avatar: The Last Airbender (as Long Feng), Gargoyles and is supposedly voicing The Goon in the animated film.

I really hope this turns out to be true as he has a great voice that is perfect for Lobo. Mind you it could work out if they go the Hellboy way he could have a full bodysuit kind of thing.

What do you think of the possible casting? Now if they could only make it an 18.

Brad Fuller talks about the response to A Nightmare on Elm Street remake trailer

Posted by LiveFor on October 2, 2009

nightmare-elm-st-teaserIt looks as if more and more filmmakers are listening to the fans with regards the films they are working on. The latest is producer Brad Fuller who has responded to the various reactions after the debut of the trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street remake that stars Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) as Freddy.

I have to thank many of you. The debut of the teaser was really amazing. Whether you like it or hate it, the release of it was huge. More that 1.6 million people saw it in the first 24 hours. The traffic to the teaser even clogged up Bloody-Disgusting for a day. As many of you know getting the teaser to you has been quite an ordeal – one that I think deserves an explanation…

Originally, our teaser was to be released on Jennifer’s Body and I was excited to tweet all about it. I announced on my twitter page that I would make an announcement within two weeks, assuming that all the plans came to fruition. But what happened was we liked the teaser, yet felt it needed to be better. Our intention always to reveal Freddy at the very end, but we had three different scenes and couldn’t decide on which one was the best. At the same time Mike Jones (Warner bros.) Drew, Bay and I keep reworking the body of the teaser. Asking ourselves, “are we showing too much, not enough etc.” We wanted to be sure that whatever we released was the best version. When we finally decided on the final version of the teaser it was too late to be on Jennifer’s Body – so we looked at the release schedule and felt that Zombieland could work for us.

At the end of the day are there things we would like to change in that teaser? Of course. But knowing our team we would keep changing things till the end of the time. Let’s be honest, Drew and I know that NOES is the most important film we’ve made. We know how all you feel about Freddy, and how you feel about us. We don’t want to be the guys who screwed up Freddy and as such are pushing ourselves harder than we’ve ever pushed. Moreover, we have found a wonderful partner in Sam Bayer. He has such high standards and refuses to cut any corner.

I have been receiving a couple of questions and want to answer some here:

Is that Freddy’s final look?

No, it isn’t – we are continuing to refine Freddy’s look. Many people commented about the CGI on his face – and I don’t want to give everything away but I will say this – Freddy’s face is 98% practical make-up. Moreover, as you now know we went hardcore on what a burn victim really looks like, and I can’t imagine what the comments would have been if he DIDN’T look like a real burn victim.

Is that Freddy’s final voice?

No, Jackie spent so much time on the voice, researching what people who’ve has their vocal cords burned sound like. He is still working on it and I suspect that we will be refining it, until the last moment.

Will it be rated PG-13?

Are you kidding me? Make no mistake about it this is a R-rated movie.

Finally, many of you tell me how you have been defending me in chat rooms. I just want you know that I really appreciate that. We will never be free of haters, but if we can at least present ourselves in an intelligent way we can point out the absurdity of having a negative opinion about something that doesn’t even exist yet.

The Losers and Freddy Krueger to go head to head in 2010

Posted by LiveFor on June 25, 2009

It looks as if the Comedian and Rorschach will be battling it out in the box office next year.

According to Box Office Mojo, the adaption of DC Comics The Losers will hit theaters on 16th April 2010. This is the same release date as New Line’s A Nightmare on Elm Street

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jackie Earle Haley are the leading men of The Losers and Nightmare.

As far as I was aware The Losers had yet to start filming so it is a bit of a surprise for the release date to be announced so soon.

2010 should be quite a good year for Comic Book lovers – The Losers, Iron Man 2, Jonah Hex and Scott Pilgrim vs The World announced so far.

Out of The Losers and The Nightmare on Elm Street remake which one are you most looking forward to?

Jackie Earle Haley teases us with Freddy Krueger’s glove

Posted by LiveFor on June 18, 2009

Rorscach himself is playing Freddy Krueger in the new Nightmare on Elm Street film. I posted a photo of him in a striped top pre-burns and now he posted this photon on Twitter.

The film is currently filming in Chicago and I think this may be the most we get to see of Freddy for the moment.

A Nightmare on Elm Street – First look at Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy

Posted by LiveFor on May 28, 2009

Yes that is Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger before the scarring and glove. It appears to be part of the origin scene of the character.

The scene apparently featured Freddy playing hide and seek with the kids in the playground as they stole his hat and gloves. Every now and again, he’d pick up a gardening tool with his right hand and chase the kids around.

JoBlo had this and a few other exclusive photos.

Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema has hired veteran screenwriter Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series.

The original Nightmare on Elm Street was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is due out on 16th April 2010.
