The Smurfs – First look at Hank Azaria as Gargamel

Posted by LiveFor on May 1, 2010

Smurfin’ Hell! Still not excited about a Smurf’s film, but I think the kids will love it. They seem to have the look right for it so far.

In the 3D August 3, 2011 release, the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village and they tumble from their magical world into ours – in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.

The cast includes Neil Patrick Harris (Johan), Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara (Odile-Johan’s wife), Anton Yelchin (Clumsy Smurf), Jonathan Winters (Papa Smurf), Katy Perry (Smurfette), Alan Cumming (Gutsy Smurf), Fred Armisen (Brainy Smurf), George Lopez (Grouchy Smurf), and Paul Reubens (Jokey Smurf).

Jackboots on Whitehall – Poster for the stop motion invasion of England

Posted by LiveFor on November 30, 2009

From the McHenry Brothers come a satirical version of World War II in which the Scottish defeat the German invasion of England. Chris (Ewan McGregor) dreams of the chance to join the army and fight in exciting new lands rather than be stuck in the slow paced village life he has grown up in. His chance comes when the three top Nazis hatch a plan to invade England by drilling under the English Channel and into the heart of London. With the entire British army stuck in Dunkirk and no military support to defend the country, Churchill issues a final radio broadcast from his bunker in Downing Street – a cry for help. But can the nation unite in time to make one last stand against Nazi forces? JACKBOOTS ON WHITEHALL boasts pioneering techniques in animation and the voices of a stellar cast including Ewan McGregor, Tom Wilkinson, Rosamund Pike, and Alan Cumming.

Jackboots on Whitehall – Animated Nazis invade England

Posted by LiveFor on July 16, 2009

This sounds fantastic – England defeated by Nazi Germany during World War II and now occupied and only Scotland can save everyone.

It is an animated film featuring stop-motion, puppets and animatronics and has started filming today.

It stars Timothy Spall as Churchill, Alan Cumming as Hitler, Tom Wilkinson as Goebbels and Richard O’Brien as Himmler, along with Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Ewan McGregor and Richard Griffiths. That is one hell of a cast.

Edward and Rory McHenry are writing and directing the film that will feature stop motion, puppeteering, and animatronics.

I can’t wait to see some photos of the puppets.
